Quitting video games probably changed how I viewed life.
I realised that there were other things worth doing as well and that real life experiences are WAY better than getting some stupid a$$ high score or beating your toxic friends in Fortnite.

Other than that, I recently realised that not reading books messed with me.
After I read TMF I didn't want to action fake by reading other books, so I didn't buy other books.
A few weeks later, and I'm sitting all day on my computer chair or phone, scrolling some stupid news which only make me feel nervous and watching dumb youtube videos. I'm also listening to so much (pop-ish) music that it feels bad listening to it. Listening to Boulez feels like a blast now.
To add to that, I lost the thing that calmed me down before bed: books!
So yeah, I ordered UNSCRIPTED yesterday and I'm looking forward to not fry my brain on youtube instead.

This is pretty recent for me. “EDC” (every day carry) was something that improved my life.

I have carried a gun for years, but after becoming a dad and needing to carry a small bag of kid stuff when I’m with my son has opened my eyes to the usefulness of having stuff with me.

So I started carrying a couple of super useful small tools and it has been awesome. I use most of the non gun stuff I carry almost daily and wonder how I got along without it.

I have an Oakley sling pack that goes most places with me.

Items of notoriety are Leatherman Surge, a set of screwdriver bits, small flashlight and a Knipex Wrench Plier within arms length pretty much all the time. I’m shocked how much it all gets used.

And no I wouldn’t stuff my pockets with all that crap, but I love having it around.

Guess that still has to kick in for me ... or maybe it never will.

I am 41 now and I have a hard time getting my hands on enough healthy food to not go crazy over the course of one day. So it is Burgers, Fries, Schnitzel or Pizza almost every day. I could order more healthy food, but it gets more expensive and is just not nearly enough to get through the day.

If I want to gain weight, I still need to add protein and do a workout. Fat just isn't happening ... even with beer added into the mix, which I mostly avoid.
Not saying I am healthy - far from it - but genetics seem to make enough of a difference that here are no hard truths that apply to everyone.
The only way to eat healthy is buying and preparing your own food. No way around it. The effort is exactly the point since it makes you consciously consider exactly what you're putting into your body. It happens that I've always enjoyed preparing food and cooked professionally for several years. My wife enjoys cooking and baking. Not surprisingly, both our girls enjoy it also. They regularly read through cookbooks and Cooks Illustrated. Dinner parties are one of my favorite times.

Despite all that, the effort to plan, shop, prep, cook and clean completely sucks about 20% of the time. So be it.

One thing I should've done a lot sooner is stop smoking weed. You don't realise how much time and money you're wasting until you quit...

A long time in my life I used to visit old friends and new friends quite often. Maintain relationships.
About 10 years ago I began to change that to just taking walks. In the woods, valleys, wherever I was.
Now I do both regularly and its fine . Often I change walks to running. For example for gym warm up.
Working less and walking more.
Makes all life better.

What improved your life so much that you wish you did it sooner?

Saw this question on Reddit and thought it was a pretty thought-provoking question that may lead to some interesting answers.

It can be whatever in any aspect of your life, both big and small things.
Reading has greatly impacted my life. Growing up, I wasn't much of a reader and couldn't envision myself getting into it. However, when I started my first corporate job after college, I realized that there had to be more to life than just climbing the corporate ladder and accumulating wealth for retirement. So, I began to read and it expanded my perspective, helped me discover my passion for entrepreneurship, and gave me the knowledge and confidence to quit my job and start working towards starting my own business. I am currently developing a prototype for a SAAS that I plan on putting out to the forum for honest feedback. Reading is what led me to this forum and continues to give me the push to pursue my dreams.

For me it’s been being mindful/more aware. So many good memories or just days in general have gone by where I wasn’t fully in the moment and that makes it all seem like a blur. And to me, when people say life moves fast, I think it’s because of a lack of awareness. Also, being mindful definitely connects me more with my good internal voice, leading to better decision-making.

1. Daily meditation. I've been doing this consistently for the past year and it helped me tremendously.
2. Going out there and connecting with people who are on a similar journey. Where 10 years ago I didn't have many entrepreneurial friends, nowadays most of them are. Included changing my lifestlye completely, and in my case, living overseas for most of my 20s.
3. Finding mentors. In my opinion, one of the fastest "shortcuts" out there (not a big believer in shortcuts but if there are any shortcuts, having a mentor comes close).
I was wondering how you were able to get the mentors? And do you meet offline sometimes or just online?

Having a website called "discomfort club" is a strong indicator of that. :playful:

@MTF I was thinking about how strange it is for us humans that pleasure and pain are two faces of the same coin. Pursue only pleasure and you will get pain. Pursue pain and hardship and you will get satisfaction and pleasure.

We are very strange creatures living in a very strange world.
Remarkable qoute. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Simple daily action - When Huberman recommended it, I started taking a walk outside every morning as soon as I woke up and it changed my life. Clears my mind, energizes me, and helps me fall asleep at night.

Combine that with a cold shower right after and BAM! You're charged up for the whole day, no coffee is needed.

* Starting to train jiu-jitsu. Gave me more confidence and not afraid of confrontation. Ok, less so. Still working on it
* Learning how to drive, obtaining a driver's license. Made me feel more in control of my life, in the driver's seat so to speak
* Starting therapy- still ongoing but already feeling some progress
* Healing from pornography addiction

I don't know if you have heard of this guy blueprint

But he is conducting a experiment to extend his life and I think for memory he spends up to 10 million dollars a year to do it. He also follows a vegan diet, I have a few recipes of his that I incorporate into my meals every week. Everything he is doing is tracked with scientific data that he gives out for free.

I encourage all of you to check him out, it's fascinating as hell what he is doing!

I couldn't care less what people eat, everyone should strive to feel healthy.

Yes I follow him, his goal is longevity not funded by any dogmatic agenda, trade group, or lobbyist, so his findings definitely will be noteworthy.

I hired a coach on weight lifting in gym. Indeed it’s different from watching and learning on youtube. Amateurs don’t know what is wrong.

I would definitely say that working out and eating healthy have improved my life. I have more energy throughout the day, and I feel better overall.

Reading books every day has helped me gain new knowledge and changed my mindset on important things in life, like wealth, health, and relationships.

One day, I hope to say that this forum has changed my life!

I would say switching the guards time to time is necessary, since, any time you stay stuck with the same people long term, you never grow, mature, evolve, and stay stuck in the same place. I know this is necessary since, in my experience anyway, it's always about stepping up the next phase or leveling up.

Since whom you hang around influences you whether positive or negative, it's recognizing that some individuals are just saboteurs. Coming back into the U.S. I'm evaluating whether i really want to associate with some people i did before, because I'm a whole different person. My answer right now is just leaving the past where it is, and keep moving forward, since i don't really need to look back. Some i do have to relate with, but i know to still be focused on where i want to go, and not where other people want to go.

Then meeting new people, I pay attention to their verbal words and actions since, it says a lot about who they are. How do they influence others, how do they manipulate, and i keep calling people out. It's all about knowing where you are going in life and not allowing others to get in your way.

It's not repeating history, and not following people that aren't working as hard as you to get to where you want to be. How they spend their time. I have to remind myself to not waste time participating in drama and trauma, gossip, rumors, and i focus on what i'm doing instead of what other people are doing. Stay in your own lane.

I can't tell you how much i see people that are not self-disciplined with their emotions, thoughts, feelings, and wipe themselve out and others at the same time.

Pff lots of things.

Quitting instant gratification (social media, porn, video games, drugs).

Stopped caring about people’s opinion.

Started calming the mind with meditation, journaling, reading and being in nature.

Improved my sleep schedule to be consistent and not messing it up with caffeine consumption.

Interest in business.

There was a hustle and entrepreneurship culture in the mainstream media in 2015-16 and TV was showing shark tank-like reality shows. I remember it was cool to be an "entrepreneur".

Now the atmosphere cooled down a lot.

There was no shortcut in taking the necessary wasted trips and lessons no matter how much you "read" so the only thing that matters is to start as early as possible.

One thing that significantly improved my life was practicing mindfulness and meditation regularly. It helped me manage stress better, stay focused on the present moment, and develop a greater sense of inner peace and clarity

Have a few in no order....
-Getting and staying sober "Easyway to Quit Drinking" Allen Carr (Nuff said)

-#75Hard Program by Andy Friscilla (Let's just say I've never vbeen in better shape, and I'm one of those loonies that hits the gym at 4:30am before work now because of this program.. AND LOVE IT)

-Learning to cook and bake (Fun, get to be creative, don't feel like a loser depending on someone to feed me, or buying food)

-Starting Martial Arts, I'm learning TKD.. (New friends, confidence, power, the challenge)

-Finding Christ.. (The peace, strength, and knowledge are incredible to my soul)

-Getting married and having a daughter, and the sacrifices needed so my wife does not have to have a job, and homeschool our daughter.. (The fire you get when you're a family man, is absolutely insane.. I thought I was at my toughest when I was a drifter.. HELL NO. It's hard to explain but with my new family, Christ, and some discipline I feel incredible)

Fyi.. Besides getting married in 2022, ALL of these other things I picked up in only the last year!!! Probably due to getting sober, but still.. Massive self-beliefs have been shattered, new skills acquired, and I'm set to dominate 2024... You can do it too..
Thanks for sharing! All of these sound absolutely amazing. I'm happy for you!

A big tip in staying sober which I discovered by myself is to never compare happiness with being high or whatever. In the past, I found myself thinking "Damn, I feel so good, you could say that I'm high". THAT IS A VERY BIG MINDSET MISTAKE. The reason why you feel good when you are sober is because YOU ARE SOBER. Never forget that.

Hope this helps! :)

Being an active user of chatgpt.

A lot shitworks that were not worth doing becomes worth doing. ROI equations changed.

It is no longer a secret but still underrated.

The most underrated things in the world are still things that almost everyone knows but doesn’t do it enough.

I am under the impression that I make decisions to the best of my ability , with the knowledge I have at all times. Sure, I get 'swayed' emotionally from time to time and might make a decision that I wouldn't have made if I continued to 'overthink' the problem - but in the end - I am NOT regretful at all of any of these actions or decisions either - again I made it to the best of my abilities at the time.

I don't think that anyone would disagree with that. Everyone makes decisions to the best of their abilities. This question is more like your current self reaching back to your past self than regretting bad decisions because you didn't make them to the best of your abilities at the time.
