The Forgotten 500, its about downed airmen in WW2. Now that school is in, I'm slowing down on a lot of reading. I have case studies about Walfart to read, yeah!

I'm looking for a good fantasy series to sink my teeth into, something thats not a manga I'm following to many of those as it is. Nothing has struck my fancy though.

Finished it, also read:

Panzer Battles by F.W. Von Mellenthin.

Fantastic read, written in the typical German fashion of concise detail with little story telling. Although Mellenthin isn't nearly as dry as Guderian, he certianly is no story teller like Hans Von Luck. Mellenthin's book was fascinating from a tactical level on the Russian front. Hearing how the 48th Panzer Corps faught and the tacits that worked against the Russians was interesting. I know modern generals still read it, I think it gives some good ideas how to operate when you are outnumbed and have a long front. As Mellenthin said the German army could operate with a favorable chance of victory at 5 to 1 odds. He doubts if any modern army could do better than that. Mellenthin also lived long enough to incorperate modern developments into his book, both political and technical.

Now I'm working on:

On War By General Carl von Clausewitz
A Narrative of a Revolutionary Solder, Some of the Adventures, Dangers, and Sufferings of Joseph Plumb Martin.

http://www.mccsiwakuni.com/docs/rsc/data/20061107202522MarineCorpsProfessionalReadingList.pdf
Here is one of my reading lists.

I still want to read some more on the Wehrmacht, probably Rommel next. After I'm done with Germany I'll switch to Japan. I think I'll read about the Shinsingumi, Tokugawa bakufu, Ishin-shishi, and Meiji era. I want to learn how a country can transform so quickly and in a fairly bloodless manner. Also the foundation for WW2 was laid at these times.

I have given up on finding a good fantasy series for the time being, I'm just watching Stargate SG1 again for the first time in years. Screw reading something else.

Its fascinating how things are so interconnected. I'm a WW2 buff but to properly understand the Germans tactics I have to go back to Clausewitz. By doing so I can see the grains that great thinkers like Guderian and Manstein took and developed into modern warefare.

So I started to go through the thread to choose my next book and was getting lost so I took my lunch break and consolidated all the books mentioned to date. So with the list completed I'm now overwhelmed in what to choose next. :huh2:

Here is the list, I tried to put them in categories but having not read them they may be miss placed. Also if the title has a number in brackets in the front, they were listed by that many people.

Already back on track, I just finished downloading: The One Minute Millionaire (e-audio, free through my library). Figure it will be a good way to make up the 1/2hr it took me to put together the list.

After that based on other peoples comments and repeated entries I'm going with:

How To Get Rich, by Felix Dennis
How To Win Friends & Influence People, by Dale Carnegie

This book is looks to be very good, I'll give feedback after I read it. Its about one of those lost WW1 stories, it would probably make a good movie. Hollywood cannot compete with reality.

Going back over Four Hour Workweek and From Patent to Profit and picking out the "actionable items" such as web addresses, contact info and exercises to help both starting an e-biz and learning licensing/trademark.

In addition, got myself a "for dummies" book- How to Start An Internet Business

And finally, a few books on "For Sale By Owner" to learn an added tactic in trying to sell my home(will most likely do FSBO or rent to own), a couple more trademark/ebiz books and a book by Richard Branson.

American Shaolin by Matthew Polly. I love it because while its a memoir, this is a guy who just 'went for it.' Threw aside what everyone told him and did what he wanted to do. Great read, and really fun.

Book 2 "Alone"

May 10 1940 - June 22, 1941

After the first forty days we were alone, with victorious Germany and Italy engaged in a mortal attack upon us, with Soviet Russia a hostile neutral actively aiding Hitler, and Japan an unknowable menace.

I'm at the part where the Panzers are about to sweep south and finish off France, they should be entering Paris tonight.
