Either this ends up in the landfill or we exercise our brains some.

Step 1- Complain about something you deal with IRL, any pain point, serious or silly. First thing that comes to mind.
Step 2- Other people quote the problem and think of a product/solution they can sell to the other person.

Rule#1: If it works it ain't stupid! The point is to think outside the box. People are allowed to take someone's answer and improve it.
Rule#2: DBAB (Don't be a dick)

I start.

Problem: Only child. Miles away from mom. She can't do basic things on the computer like downloading her phone photos, because "OmG Idk HoW tO dO IT, i'M gOnNa BReAK soMetHiNG ". Walking her through it on a call is a torture and she prefers to wait one year or more until I visit for me to do it for her instead of learning (I've written the steps down and she still won't do it). She keeps running out of space and deleting things while she waits for me to visit.

I'm legit willing to pay $$ for someone to solve this nuisance for me.

I need an uber for day laborers. Painting, moving stuff around, etc.

Your problem may be solved the same way.

You mean I can send an Uber Shift from Argentina to Chicago? xD

Sounds like your mother just wants to spend more time with her only child, and "not being able to do X" seems to be the only reason for you to visit her, so she keeps on "not knowing how".

Solution; see your mother more often, or move her closer by, or in with you or you in with her.

One day you'll wish that you would of spent more time with her.

No lol I'm in the States and she's in Argentina. I can't visit more than once a year right now. We're in touch every day through text/facebook etc. When I visit we do many more things, she doesn't need to put an excuse for me to visit. You're missing the point of the game, thanks for your concern but my mom is fine lol :p

We use zoom meetings for this and it works well. She can share her screen and you can tell her visually what to do.
There are other apps the let you do everything remote without her help. TeamViewer may be one.

This is fairly easily solved with Teamviewer or any other remote desktop software. I've been using Teamviewer for years for my parents and grandparents, etc.

My apartment doesn't have a dishwasher. I don't mind doing dishes, but it is a time sink and I'd pay to get those minutes back. Portable dishwasher?

I feel for you. I’ve given up trying to show my mum how to use her iPhone. She can’t even swipe or tap things. Each app seems to have a different navigation system and have back buttons that are little arrows that she can’t find or tap successfully.

I FaceTime her everyday and at least she’s able to answer that. She’ll never figure out how to FaceTime anyone else.

Is there no cradle for smartphones that has big bold buttons on it to allow the less able to use the wonderful apps we’re all accustomed to nowadays? I’d buy one for her.

There are smartphone "apps" (not sure what they're called) that allow blind people to use smartphones. Perhaps she could benefit from those?

I'd be interesting in a bunch of products that don't have estrogenics in them.
  • Bowls with lids
  • Men's hair styling fiber (think gel but less goopy & without any shine)
  • Food bags

Some kind of guided polarized speed meeting service would be cool. I don't have trouble talking to people at happy hours or meetups, but I do have trouble getting people to talk about topics that they are actually really interested in. I'd like to be able to a social event that forces people to talk about controversial topics just so people find out quickly if they are compatible (as friends or romantic interests).

I think that you could probably find out in 5-10 how many years you would be friends with someone IF you ask the right questions, though I don't yet know what those questions are. Though the New York Times has something like this.

I'm not sure. A friend showed me a YouTube video of famous blind YouTubers using their smartphones over a year ago, and that's where I know it from. I just know that the technology exists, nothing specific about it.

I love that. A bit of a phone stand that you connect to the USB on the computer and the stand has one big button that says "download photos" and it automatically finds the folder in the phone, creates one on your desktop named "photos" and downloads them all on a dated folder. Boom.

My mom has become an expert on Facebook though, her and my dad are more on it sharing sourceless baitclicky inflammatory articles than I am in a week.

If you saw the size of the font she has the phone set to you would thing she's blind. To be fair she does have strong astigmatism... funny enough I'd like to bring her here for that Lasik thing if she would do it.

First off I had this horrible vision of a speed dating event where you're given flashcards with discussion topics such as "Should we build a wall?" "Does socialism really work?" "Why is the divorce rate so high" "Are women really bad drivers?" Then I just picture people screaming at each other.

Proposed solution: Some kind of dating retreat that lasts a week, with planned activities that force people to sort of show more of themselves, and then free time to approach each other like "omg you said you like collecting bugs, me too!"

Probably the same concept of computers that can dictate and stuff? I've seen plenty of people on Reddit that say they are blind but their computer reads for them and stuff.

Problem: Renting/buying apartments.
I`m so sick of timewasting brokers.
Most of them upload fake ads CONSTANTLY.
Alot of them waste your time LYING about the apartment just to get you there even though you`ve specified the exact things which you dont want the apartment to have.
Some of them respect you but usually dont offer you anything for months.
And there are a few unicorns which flat out refuse to work with you because you are not serious enough for them.

Dont get me started on the cleanliness of apartments...

Solutions, pleeease

Saran-wrap. Its so difficult to cut. And, when you do finally cut it with that serrated edge, it often ends up bunching up, turning into a useless ball of irritation.

Years ago, I looked for 3rd-party dispensers of the stuff built for the home, but didn't find anything worth mentioning. This may have been solved since then. I did find industrial dispensers, but I don't want 2 feet of space taken up on my countertop for it.

Costco plastic wrap does come with a movable knife-thingy, but even that isn't all that convenient.

Anything with plastic in it often includes parabens or phthalates, which are estrogenics.

Apparently BPA was discovered while scientists were trying to make birth control. They noticed that the stuff really stuck together and they started making plastic out of it.
