This was great. Yeah, I often have to remember (ahem, Google) what some of the formula are. And the only time I hear EBITA is from CFOs.

If you still have the recorded file... I can bring it up for you. It is called "normalization."

You want your peaks maximized at -1dB. At zero and beyond it begins to "clip."

This keeps the loudness the same across all of your episodes and it is also standard for most broadcast applications.

Let’s chat tomorrow afternoon. I need to learn to use Audacity.

I am still learning too. I think it will need to be a divide and conquer thing. I CAN help with normalization and "dynamic range compression" though.

It CERTAINLY does more than Hindenburg. It will be a worthwhile time investment to become experts. It is also the global standard. So when I hire a VA to do this crap, they will be familiar with Audacity.

Working on SXM personally. :hilarious:
What's SXM?

Audacity is cool. It's simple enough to get started. I don't know about all this normalisation stuff.

Andy.

When I started my last company, my first client was Walmart.

Similarly, when Mr. Kill Bigger set out to start a media company, he set his sights bigger than that. He's pursuing a deal with Sirius Satellite Radio. We know that there is a lot of content out there that is better than their current offerings on their business channel.

Kyle is also becoming proficient at sound technology. Similar to Sam Walton, who held every job at Walmart when he built it, Kyle (and I) want to understand every aspect of every job to produce content on demand. We have to know how to use the tools in order to eventually lead the charge.

Fun stuff. That's why I moved this to the execution threads. There's a lot more thought process going into this than just my pretty face and golden voice.

I'm releasing a special show for Independence Day (July 4th here in the states). A recent Gallup poll stated that 85% of Americans hate their jobs. If you haven't reached your own independence day yet, you will want to tune in Saturday at 11AM Eastern. At the end of the show, I will challenge you to pick a date certain on the calendar in the future, circle it and navigate yourself to your own INDEPENDENCE DAY.

Agreed. I like fiddling at the coal-face till I've figured out what works. Only then will I hand it over to someone else.

That is a limiting belief!

Sometimes it is best to just hire an expert from the get go. Entrepreneurs should get used to hiring and working with people that are better than them at things. It is good for the long term.

I doubt the CEO of GM has ever spun a lug nut. He makes millions per year by employing people that can/do.

It is so weird to me that only Americans know what this is. You aren't the first to ask this. SiriusXM is missing out big time.

I can't disagree with you any more than I do. I can't tell someone (generally) what I want done unless I know what I am talking about. I have to be able to tell the mechanic what is wrong with the car in order for him to fix it. I don't just leave shit to chance. I need a working knowledge of all aspects of the things I am invested in. Otherwise, you're left to the random opinions and assessments of the experts.

I never pegged you to be such a boot licker. I am for the working man, not trusting the "experts."

Andy SIRI is their stock symbol. Nobody calls it SXM. I just happen to speak KILL BIGGER.

Kyle, I wonder if that is a BUY.

Oh, I hear you. It’s just that in this case I want to really understand the strategy by doing it, because I can then “see” how it fits into other things I do.

It helps for when I talk to prospects if I’ve done the actual work, and it helps if I bring out a course too.

Of course, I could delegate the sales and I could get other people to do the courses, except I think figuring this stuff out and then explaining it is one of my superpowers. I don't think I can or should outsource that, but I am trying to figure out how to leverage my technical tendencies while still moving away from the coal-face.

I outsource some things, and others I want to figure out because it’s fundamental to what I do. I also get insights others don’t.

A line I liked was that “You can’t outsource passion or insight.”

EDIT: Just to be clear. I’ve no intention of offering any more courses to the forum. I’ve one live marketplace ad that I had no intention of promoting further. People asked for it so that’s why it’s there. People can find it if they look for it.

I’ve done online workshops for charities to help them get and keep the Google Ads Grant. I’ve done in person workshops to businesses. I helped train a team of 35 Google Ads specialists that I then went on to lead. I do Maths grinds every year to help local youngsters get into college or join the army. It’s in my blood but I’ll not be talking about it in here again.

Ridiculous. If people want to pay you to teach them, you can. That's an essential element of freedom and capitalism, Andy. No disclaimer needed. Don't let the 1/10th of 1% deprive people who can have their lives changed by your instruction denied for the sake of those who spend their time tearing down statues. Don't deprive the rest of what you have to offer. I'm sad you feel that way, but that is NOT the sentiment of the majority. The forum NEEDS sponsors to stay alive, and the pitchfork crowd, by definition, is now ineligible.

Working knowledge: Yes of course... If you can. If you can't that is cool too.

Expertise: You are just wasting time.

I know jack shit about chemistry. Some people would use that as an excuse to go learn chemistry. I simply surround myself with people that know it better than me. I lean on the expertise of my team. The leader surrounds himself the people that are SMARTER than them.

What do I know? I know sales, leadership and deal making. Chemists make the chemicals. Leaders make companies.

ALSO! I am not a bootlicker if they are MY experts. I lean on their expertise, but I drive the organization forward. It is MY vision and MY initiatives that they are organized in working on.

Obviously the CEO of GM knows what a radiator is. Could he replace one? Does he have to know how? No.
