Hi everyone!
I’ve decided it’s about time to create a progress thread to share what I’ve been working on for the past 6-7 months.
Back in May, I started an educational business focused on providing Excel and Google Sheets training. This decision came after validating the idea using the Million Dollar Weekend approach (as described in Noah Kagan's book).
I initially offered live training sessions, where people paid me to teach them how to navigate and work efficiently with spreadsheets. So far, I’ve conducted three online classes. However, my bigger vision is to develop a digital product, leveraging sales funnels and offering valuable bonuses to justify a higher price point compared to platforms like Udemy.
In the Philippines, there are about six companies offering similar services. When analyzing how they operate, I noticed many opportunities to differentiate myself by creating value skews—both primary and secondary.
For now, my primary goal is to dominate the local training market in the Philippines. I also plan to create templates alongside my courses since they complement each other well, either as bundled offerings or standalone products.
To stay on track, I’ll use this thread to share my weekly tasks, including what I’ve accomplished, what I’ve delayed, and what remains undone. I’ve been doing weekly progress updates privately via email (another idea I picked up from Noah Kagan), but I want to increase accountability. By posting here, I’ll be motivated to stay consistent and can also be called out if I’m just “action faking.”
Curious to hear your thoughts! Let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions.
PS: English is my second language. While I can understand, write, and speak in English, I still use ChatGPT to help improve my grammar. Just a heads-up in case this post gets flagged as AI-generated—haha!

Why did I choose this niche?
Even 20+ years after spreadsheets became widely available, many people in the Philippines still struggle with Excel and Google Sheets. Despite the abundance of courses available online, Filipinos often lack the necessary skills to use these tools effectively. The demand is still high, with many willing to pay for training. In the Philippines, there are about six companies offering similar services. When analyzing how they operate, I noticed many opportunities to differentiate myself by creating value skews—both primary and secondary.
Credibility and Approach
As a Data Analyst here in the Philippines, I have the credibility to back up my training. This isn’t a gimmick or some “guru” promise of millions; I focus on real, practical skills. My guarantee is that by the end of my training, participants will feel confident and proficient in using spreadsheets.Future Potential
One of the great things about this business is its potential to expand into other models over time—like creating template solutions, add-ons, or even spreadsheet automation SaaS products. The presence of competitors in these areas signifies strong market demand. For now, my primary goal is to dominate the local training market in the Philippines. Current Progress
I’m in the process of building my first training product while continuing to grow my presence on social media. My primary platforms are TikTok and Facebook, the two most visited apps by Filipinos. To stay on track, I’ll use this thread to share my weekly tasks, including what I’ve accomplished, what I’ve delayed, and what remains undone.
