Thank you for providing a different perspective. This part stood out to me. So are you claiming that the modern (online) opportunities revolve mostly around software or was that just what you wrote in relation to the platform comment?

I wouldn't claim that. Broadly speaking, just look at what teams modern 100-300 person organizations have - product, marketing, engineering, sales, customer service, etc.

Then realize that it's impossible for any small business to wear all of those hats at once, and they are probably competitive and have a small business because they excel at a couple of those things, but probably lack in others.

I have a local client for 4 years. They have franchises, and they kill it with radio advertising. Their websites were terrible, made in-house on Wix. That's a gap, I filled it 4 years ago. They still don't do Google ads, but they are pulling $5M+/year in revenue. That's another gap, and it will be filled by 2027.

They haven't agentified anything yet, that's another gap, and it will probably be filled by 2028.

They don't have a platform where customers can log in, schedule a service time, get results, etc. that also ties into any type of email marketing & CRM. That's another gap, and that's how you scale to 10 or 50 locations and go big. Who knows if it will ever get filled.

Small businesses have so many gaps. Like they aren't even anywhere close to being able to think about agentifying parts of their business. Most are probably behind on their email inboxes and bleeding hot leads because they don't have successful end-to-end systems to handle that.

Where can you provide value and fill gaps? All of the $$$ numbers talk in this thread is chasing the cat, not putting out the milk.
