The only impossible journey is the one that never begins

a hero is a mindset
We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing

Judge a tree by the fruit that it bears

The best time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

A bad day for the ego is a great day for the soul

Everyone is self-made. Its only the millionaires who admit it

The thing that you must do next is the thing that you are putting off

When you lie with dogs, you come up with fleas

Frustration results from exaggerating the importance of desires.

As you live your days, so you live your life

Your life is a direct reflection of the expectations of your peer group

Anyone got some new good one-liners?
I keep my own list on a piece of paper on my desk and review it weekly, adding quotes as I find them. I should probably review it daily.

I may have gotten some of these from the forum, but I have forgotten where:
  • It doesn't matter what you know - it matters what you do.
  • You are the author of your own life.
  • Hard choices, easy life. Easy choices, hard life. (something very similar to this in one of MJ's books).
  • The grass isn't greener on the other side. It's greener where you water it.
  • The best way to predict the future is to create it.
  • The word becomes flesh.
  • Sweat more in training, bleed less in war.
  • Sacrifice what you are for what you could become.
  • You must be the master of your own kingdom.
  • It is vain to do with more what can be done with less. (Occam)
  • Today's results come from last year's work.
  • You don't blow the interview that day. You blow it by failing to prepare in the days before.
  • He whose gaze is fixed upon a distant star will not falter. (DaVinci)
  • Success depends on systems - your day is decided well in advance.
  • Luck is the residue of design.
  • Do the thing, and you will have the power.
  • Make persistence your watchword, and failure will eventually grow tired of chasing you.

Seriously, I don't get slightest amount ounce of bored when it comes to Demarco's books. Anyway, here are some fav sayings:

Fasteners understand that TIME is the gas tank of life

Look Big and Act Small

Life becomes about what you can't do

One of my favorites from MJ is:

"Change your choices. Change your equation. And then you get to change your life."

If you really think about the simple beauty of that statement and try to comprehend that success is defined by math, it is the meat of all of our discussions. Don't get bogged down by things. Make a choice. Define the math of your life. Profit by the variables you can control. It's very elegant.

While I am not battle-hardened in business, for those who do not plan to start their own businesses, TMF still has lots of great quotes. (I do not re-cite all of them exaclty though.)

- Compound interest is a scam
- The 3-3 rule and lots of other great rules
- Act, assess, adjust
- Think before you act
- Always be responsible and accountable
- You should learn your entire life long
- Don't waste your time for hyperrealities

But my favourite quote is that you should never trust any financial advice that cannot be proven mathematically. The Law of Attraction is not proven. The Law of Effection is. I also recommend to utilize statistics and especially the Law of the Large Numbers if you are a Sidewalker who tries transitioning into wealth.
