B2B, construction industry-based service. I'm using Agile CRM.

Right now I'm a few days away from finishing up the website build. Ideally, I want to start my cold calling and cold emailing campaign when it's complete.

However, there are so many things I can still set up that it could take a few more weeks to have everything up and running — follow-up email sequences, abandoned carts, user onboarding, popups, other landing pages, web rules, webhooks, etc. etc. etc.

MVP will be there, I feel like I'll be incomplete from a marketing standpoint.

I guess that depends on what you need right now to be making sales?

There is a minimum amount of information you need to make sales, that is all data entry. As long as those are set up, you don't really need anything else at the moment.

Are you doing the lead gen as well? If so, sales should be more of a priority then setting up each feature.

Make a schedule of must have's and set out the time each week to get them up while working on biz dev. So far you just listed a bunch of things software can do and not what the business needs.

That makes a boatload of sense. In all actuality, I have the minimum set up to actually make a sale. Everything else is extracurricular. Like an abandoned cart email sequence.

This feels like a last ditch effort to avoid picking up the phone.

Pick up the phone.

I sell digital marketing services, without a website, never mind a CRM.

Pick up the phone.

JORDAN (CONT'D)
I want everybody to look down.
See that little black box in front
of you? It's called a telephone.
Now I'm gonna let you in on a
little secret about this
telephone -- it won't dial itself!
That's right -- until you take
some action, it's nothing more
than a worthless hunk of plastic,
like a loaded M16 without a
trained Marine to pull the
trigger. And in the case of the
telephone, it's the action of you,
a highly trained Strattonite, a
killer who will not take no for an
answer! A person who will not
hang up the phone until his client
either buys or F*cking dies!

The Brokers go crazy. Jordan looks around.

JORDAN (CONT'D)
I don't care if you graduated from
Harvard or Bumfuck University or
never got past fourth F*cking
grade! That phone is the great
equalizer!
(pause; looks around)
There is no nobility in poverty.
I've been rich, and I've been poor
and I choose rich every time.

JORDAN (CONT'D)
At least as a rich man, when I
have to face my problems, I show
up in the back of a limo wearing a
$2000 suit and $40,000 gold watch!

Jordan takes off his GOLD WATCH, flings it to the Crowd.
Brokers go nuts, fighting over it like a home-run ball.

JORDAN (CONT'D)
And if anyone here thinks I'm
crazy, get the F*ck out and get a
job at McDonald's, because that's
where you F*cking belong! But
before you depart this room full
of winners, I want you to take a
good look at the person next to
you, because one day in the not-so-
distant future, you'll be sitting
at a red light in your beat-up old
Pinto, and that person's gonna
pull up in a brand new Porsche,
with their gorgeous young wife at
their side. And who will you be
next to? Some ugly beast with
three days of razor-stubble in a
sleeveless moo-moo, crammed in
next to you with a carload of
groceries from the F*cking Price
Club!

He scans the Brokers; they're on the edge of their seats.

JORDAN (CONT'D)
So you listen to me and listen
carefully. Are you behind on your
credit card bills? Good. Pick up
the phone and start dialing. Is
your landlord threatening to evict
you? Good. Pick up the phone and
start dialing. Does your
girlfriend think you're a F*cking
loser? Pick up the phone and
start F*cking dialing! I want
you to deal with your problems by
becoming rich! I want you to go
out and spend money! Leverage
yourself, back yourself into a
corner, let the consequences of
failure become so F*cking
unthinkable that you'll have no
choice but to do whatever it takes
to win!

The Brokers go absolutely APESHIT.

JORDAN (CONT'D)
You have an obligation here,
people! To your clients! To this
firm! An obligation to yourself,
godammit! You ram Steve Madden
stock down your clients' throats
and make them choke on it till
they buy 20,000 shares! Be
aggressive! Be ferocious! Be
telephone F*cking terrorists!!

Before Jordan is even finished, the Brokers GO BERSERK,
some already dialing their phones.

Hey, fair enough!

The downside is I'm ready to rock, but decision makers are OOO until the 2nd/3rd it seems.
Plenty to do with any business in downtime. Don't have yourself easy excuses. You can be building prospect lists, practice pitching, and set up a million other things in the mean time!

Good luck dude, will be interesting to see your results.

BTW. M-F ... 10 calls min every day.

Oh yeah, I set up a few automations that send me "prospects" of companies using similar services every day to my inbox. I'll just have to find contact details for the best person to contact. In most cases that's a simple as going to their website's about us page.

10 calls a day will be a breeze. Literally took a job to learn how to cold call. Was doing sometimes upwards of 60 calls working for a company doing a similar, albeit $$,$$$ service. Really got used to the "woah, your price is too high" objection. At one point I was discussing the price after the pitch/presentation just because I knew if we got over that, it was a new client.

Broke a lot of sales "rules", but saved a lot of time for everyone involved.

EDIT: One thing I learned also is that even if you contact the wrong person, they'll usually point you in the right direction for who to talk with. I work from the top down, starting with owners/presidents if I can't find who to contact.

Works out well.

Update: just hopped off the phone with a firm in Milwaukee that sees the value in my service. We're moving forward working together.

May start a progress thread after this month.

Onward.
