Faceless YouTube Channels, Can it Be Done?

<div class="bbWrapper">Videos without a talking head narrator can tell a story in a much richer way, by showing you something a long the narration. But I think the one big factor to actually make them really good is animation. Kurzgesagt are fantastic at this. They don‘t just show some photos or videos, but animate the story they are telling.</div>

It&#039;s all faceless and quite long (20-30 minutes). I&#039;m spending obscene amounts of money on production to stand out. We&#039;ll see how it goes...</div>

Not sure if these are the kinds of channels this thread has in mind, but they&#039;re faceless and engage me (n=1) through really good story-telling.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I&#039;ve been making youtube videos on various channels for around 10 years. I have a faceless channel with around 105k subscribers. <br /> <br /> One extra level of difficulty is that you will need tons of b roll and/or animations when compared to a talking head video.<br /> <br /> At the end of the day, understanding storytelling and viewer psychology are critical. You can massively increase viewer retention with some simple tricks.<br /> <br /> Regardless of the niche, getting a brand new channel off the ground can be pretty difficult without having any fans to cross promote to. However, if you find a gem of a niche with low production quality, and low competition, grab it by the reigns. That&#039;s where I&#039;m at with my new channel.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I was just thinking about this yesterday, and how I am moving more towards faceless channels.<br /> <br /> I have found some of my previous favourite channels that have a face, are going on way too much about themselves, or adding their own perspective or thoughts more than I want.<br /> <br /> When those channels do a video that is faceless, that problem goes away and is more enjoyable for me.</div>

As everything else in the recent years, faceless channels have been subjected to the same enshittification. If I see a faceless video, I&#039;m pretty sure it&#039;ll be some generic bullshit that has zero unique research and just repeats the same thing as everyone else is saying (or the same thing that AI told them to say).</div>

As a creator, I found it much easier to edit when it wasn&#039;t talking head.<br /> <br /> Our kids watch gaming channels and there&#039;s never a talking head in the corner.<br /> <br /> Our eldest likes watching history channels too, with animations and voice overs.
