Want to know what forum theft looks like?

  1. Post a thread.
  2. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of people take time to read it.
  3. Dozens more take time to respond and help. Some might spend an hour or more on your topic!
  4. After you read and review your responses, some of which you may not like, ask a mod to DELETE the thread or DELETE your profile.

The above describes forum theft.

And no, I won't delete your thread. You payment for the solicitation of our time is the thread/posts' existence to help educate other people.

If you are coming here to steal, please, don't post.
If you are coming here to get an opinion, and yet, aren't prepared for an uncensored opinion, don't post.
If you are coming here to post your business idea, want feedback, get it, and then think you will want it deleted later, hence stealing everyone's time, don't post.

You don't waltz into a convenience store, take what you need, and then say to the clerk as you exit, "I'm sorry, I thought everything was FREE; I thought your store and the time you invested in your store existed solely for my benefit..."

Please don't ask to have a your shit deleted. I will not comply.

If you don't like this policy (or don't agree to the terms of use governing this site) leave.
Thank you.

:tiphat:

PS: Deleting your account deletes all your personal information from our servers and sets any content you've contributed to an anonymous guest account that has no data trail. If you don't like this data-policy don't contribute here. And BTW, we aren't in the EU and aren't subject to GPDR either, though our deletion policy of personal information complies with GPDR regs.

Don't like it? Don't join and don't post. Easy peezy.

Guys, think before you post. We are not in the habit of deleting threads because suddenly you don't like the answers, or suddenly you don't want anyone else to read the replies. If we are spending our time in responding to your thread, the price you pay for our time is the thread will not be deleted.

If you want your account "deleted" here is how.

1) Use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of any forum page.
2) Message a request to have your account deleted.

Your account will be deleted, however, YOUR POSTS WILL NOT BE DELETED and/or REMOVED. Let me repeat that: Deleting your account will not delete your threads/posts/commentary. An account deletion simply labels all your posts to "Guest" and deletes your account/profile information from the system.

It is a small online shop from oversea and of course many people will google the name before buying something. Then they will come to this forum. The women want to read a romantic story about somebody deciding to sell their handmade designs, made with so much love. Not a guys story who want to take the fastlane.

Thank you for the answer and the explanation. I think they have some validity. I will remove the links.

Bump.

Had to get in on the action.

I don't even look at some of the old threads I posted.

At one point, I felt a certain sort of way about them, and it wasn't too positive.

@MJ DeMarco deleted the really crazy stuff when it happened.

All in the past now. Can't change it, and don't have a time machine.

What's cool is that when someone really relates with you, they'll go back and read your old shit, and connect with you on a deeper level.

The flip side to this is be conscious of what you decide to post here, because it could still be here years from now even if you regret it.

Yep.

It amazes me to see some of the flaming and arguing that goes on.

This is an entrepreneurial and business forum.

Business is about creating relationships.

What relationships are you building?

If you come here then you need to stay here and help people, forum is comunity , not some help board only for you !

I think all forum members should be like family, to help each other if possible

Come to think of it, in a strange way most of you do resemble my family...

I made this mistake to post the link here which could really get in my way using the Fastlane

Just curious...

If you fail, do you really think "this link" will be the reason why? How is posting a link to a webstore a deterrent to "using the Fastlane"?

Please help me understand as I don't see the connection.

PS: One alternative is to join the INSIDERS and then asked to have the progress thread moved to the inside. This hides the thread from the general public. We've done this several times as progress threads get more detailed and involved.

It that still true? What does "unofficially deleted" mean?

Not sure what I meant here, but I think it was that the old, old threads are barely visible unless they become tagged NOTABLE or GOLD.

I can guarantee you there are a ton of threads (very old) that are worthy of gold or notable -- they're just buried. The best way to expose these is to view the forums at the thread level and then sort by # of posts or views.

Also, under the old forum software, the older threads were more difficult to find.

I respect your right to run your forum as you see fit.

Thank you. This rule is in place because too many people ask for threads to be deleted when THEY DON'T GET RESPONSES THEY LIKE. This is after dozens of people SPENT TIME responding, providing feedback (sometimes critical, valuable, and yes, sometimes not so valuable) so they run and try to delete the thread.

Wasting the community's time is not the purpose of this forum.

If someone takes precious time out of their life to provide feedback in a thread started by someone, the thread won't be deleted because then that user is stealing time from others.

Exceptions are if the thread has NO RESPONSES (then no one's time was stolen! Yah!) or if privacy becomes a concern.

I respectfully recommend that there is some exposure of all new users to this rule, so that this unusual rule is well understood right from day one.

Threads can be edited for some time (I forgot the duration, perhaps 10 days). Nonetheless, I'll make sure the terms are clearer. I think INSIDERS have unlimited edit time.

Thank you.

I am reconsidering if it is an inappropriate privacy violation for me to share so much personal material, on a forum where I didn't know that posts can't be deleted. My request is with that context.

I will call you Mr. Bloomer. If you knew who I was, Mr. Bloomer, you would know that I know everything about you. Everyone on the inside does, in fact. If you study my avatar closely, you may be able to decipher my identity. I've been in several highly acclaimed movies. That is an unretouched photo of me.

There is nothing you can do about any of that. It's the web and you are a part of it. Quite simply, you were born into it, and you will die in it, Mr. Bloomer. We are all a part of the web. But, unfortunately for you, my associates and I, alone, control it.

Do not try to contact us. We will contact you, if and when we need to.

Have a good day, Mr. Bloomer.

I think his request is pretty reasonable, for someone to just go back to his company name or link and replace it with [BUSINESS NAME DELETED FOR PRIVACY]. I know you said that user name changes weren't allowed unless it was for privacy/personal security and I kinda see this as the same thing, although I disagree that everytime somebody makes a mistake a mod should have to clean up their mess.

I personally know that when you google "Animated Elements: Doodles" A thread from this forum shows up... so any potential customer will find me talking about promotional strategy (which I'm okay with).. but I can imaging that if I was still promoting something like Social Media Management or Freelance Video SEO, I DEF. wouldn't want any potential customers seeing that I had a near 200% profit margin.

Libertad! Listen buddy:
Help some people out, get some speed, and then post all confidential information in the Speedway! That's not indexed by google and it's free
(although INSIDERS is totally worth it. I was a member for 6 months and it helped me more than any book or course could. I'm reregistering to be an INSIDERS in sept)

Best of luck

This is an entrepreneurial forum.

People buy from people.

Business is about creating relationships.

What relationships do you want to build?

Exactly. There's no reason to get so rallied up because someone else has a different opinion than you. There should be a beer button. You send it to someone and you have a virtual beer with them. Everyone can just get along and have a good time.
