I found this video very interesting and I learned a lot from it. Thought others might also.

Unfortunately the video borders on politics so we need to tread carefully.

However since we are talking Schiff, some folks on the INSIDE have heavily recommended this book:

The occupy movement is the best argument against the sidewalk.

Great video - reminds me of the first time I really internalized the real world.

Back in 08, when news outlets were filming the protests, the cameras panned into the mob.

In the middle was a scruffy looking guy, dark hoodie with curly unwashed brown hair.

Hmm, kind of looked like me at the time, with the exception of a shower.

The picture them moved onto a balcony, much like this one:

article-2044277-0E2E271200000578-699_468x350.jpg

Men and women in dark tailored suits, drinking champagne and laughing and having a good time.

"That's who I want to be."

No more waiting for someone else to, maybe, give you a promotion. No more waiting for someone else to, maybe, give you some of their breadcrumbs.

If you're sitting there in school, learning physics, why can't you learn how to make money? How to get what you want? How to be independent?

(We all have the same hours in the day)

There are millions of millionaires in the world, so it's not like it's impossible.

The next day, I went to a barber, and got a clean cut.

The next year, MJ's book came into full view.

Rest is history.

this is not fastlane against sidewalk

this is inteligence against stupidity

i don't believe everyone can be successful . this is Ayn Rand's message

only people with strong will deserve to be rich , not stupid people

i don't care about political corectness here

i only care about truth and i won't apologize for my values.

I will definitely check that book out.

What if a stupid person has a strong will? Then could they be successful in your opinion?

I don't think I would call these people stupid. Maybe a few are a bit crazy but I think there biggest problem is they cannot be wrong. Maybe it is because if they are wrong then they would look like idiots for being out there this whole time?

What I don't understand about this video is why people are really arguing with Peter Schiff. If I was there I would have been listening and taking notes to everything he said and asking him better questions. He clearly is more knowledgeable and successful than me.

I couldn't make it beyond 4 minutes. I wanted to hear what he had to say, but couldn't listen to the questions...

(Book added to my Amazon basket, although I see it's on Audible too...)

This book should be a "required" read for everybody. I would recommend it almost as much as TMF . It really opened my eyes, and is told in a parable like fashion so it's easy to consume.

You don't appreciate the knowledge a guy like Schiff has if you've been conditioned to believe people get rich by stealing and f'ing over others. I know this because I was one of those people (not as bad, but same basic worldview). My education on capitalism came from reading "The Jungle" in US History Class. Yes, that's right, my teachers tried to teach us about the role of business in American history by having us read fiction.

Some of it's cringeworthy, but you gotta have some sympathy for folks, and I respect Schiff for at least trying to engage people, although it might just be a self-promoting publicity stunt.

Ditto. Perhaps the single greatest argument against Socialism is the quality of articulateness from it's most valiant defenders. Or rather, the obvious lack of following convictions all the way to their conclusions, which manifests itself as ignorance, inability to form a statement or conclusion...just saying buzz words that are used to getting emotional feedback around them.

The worst part is the face that hears something it's been taught to hate it's entire life. That face doesn't register words. It blinks and grimaces and talks louder and more pained as it tries to retain politeness and courtesy in face of "such obvious greed". Poor humble simple socialists, and what weight of the world they carry on their shoulders. So long as they can group together and say things like "community" and "equality", at least they can all fuel each other with lukewarm, ephemeral emotions of moral goodness.

There are good rich people and bad rich people, good poor people and bad poor people.
Some rich people are corrupt, other rich people work hard to build an honest business.
Some poor people are lazy welfare moochers who want everything handed to them, other poor people just want to earn an honest living as an employee within the system and not feel F*cked by the system.

The occupy movement included both good and bad poor people.
The people on the balcony looking at them included both good and bad rich people.

The situation is not so cut and dry, I think it's naive to think that way about most things in life.

Watched some of the video, this guy is a boss.

He says "I didn't want the banks to get bailed out"
"No company is too big to fail"
Exactly! I don't understand how people got over that and forgot so fast. I'm still absolutely bewildered that the bank bailouts happened here in America!

A lot of occupy wall streeters are protesting against "1% percenters" as an umbrella term for "rich people", but Schiff clearly states that the corrupt government is responsible.

Sorry getting dangerously close to politics, ill stop now.

This video is killing me; the guy from minute 30 onwards simply doesn't want to shut up and listen even for a second. This is a personality issue, a specific world outlook. The topic might have been about cats vs dogs, it wouldn't even matter. Maybe he'll grow out of it ^^

This isn't bordering on politics, instead it's rather bordering on comedy.

Time to buy this book. :bookworm: This whole topic has been a gray area that I wanted to understand, but never fully grasped. Definitely opened my eyes to a different viewpoint. Thanks @lewj24 for posting this!

I actually watched this video 2-3 weeks ago. Peter Schiff held it down. A few of the people he interviewed were morons. Ill just leave it at that.
You grow up, and get told to work your a$$ off and strive for greatness. Then the minute you reach a lofty position in life, someone wants to get mad at you because you make more money than they do, and they want to tell you want you need to do with it. Madness.

Ay caramba what a bunch of hyperbole. Jeez people are mindlessly yelling senseless garbage most of the video. I'm definitely getting Peter's book now! He held his own like a champ!

Seems like most of the people he spoke with are pretty misguided. Guy at 27:00 just wants to yell sadly like a lot of other people.

But I digress before things get political.
