Something big is happening, and if you aren’t paying attention, you're about to be left behind.
Here’s a true story.
One of my favorite software services was recently acquired. Naturally, the service promptly went to shit. (I won’t name names, LOL).
So, I canceled my subscription and went hunting for a replacement. I signed up for 7 different SaaS offerings and test-drove their free trials.
The result? As frustrating as looking for a needle in a haystack.
Nothing worked exactly how I wanted it to work. One app was great at X, but completely sucked at Y. Another had Y, but X was an afterthought. After a week of ripping my hair out, I said "screw it."
What did I do?
I built my own damn service using AI. Specifically, I fired up Google’s Antigravity and went to work.
Within a FEW HOURS, I had completely engineered the exact service and functions I needed. And in my best AI rendition of overused AI conventions , "No compromises. No bloated features. Just results" (LOL).
And get this...
It actually performed better than the service I was paying for every month.
Think about how FN amazing this is.
Not only did I completely eliminate a monthly bill, but I solved my problem to my exact specifications, like a custom fitted suit that properly fit my bulging biceps (j/k!). Yes, I could easily polish this up, toss it into the marketplace, and probably pull in thousands a month.
But that brings me to a much larger, terrifying reality...
Software is becoming commoditized. It is becoming ubiquitous. Cheap. Unremarkable. Anybody with a pulse and a Wi-Fi connection can do exactly what I just did using AI tools like Antigravity, Lovable, or Replit.
I’ve seen this movie before.
It reminds me exactly of what happened a decade ago with the self-publishing industry.
Publishing a book used to be a gated, heavily guarded country club. Then Amazon blew the doors off the hinges. Suddenly, anyone could upload a Word document and call themselves an "author."
What happened? The space was completely obliterated by an avalanche of garbage. Millions of books, but zero buyers.
Mark my words: In one year, this will be the exact plight of the software industry. Cracks are even to surface on Wall Street in the software space as stocks like Salesforce (CRM) take nosedives.
Even worse, I can’t fathom the bloodbath coming to the field of software development. An entire career space is about to be violently redefined, disrupted, and in many cases, destroyed.
So, here is the million-dollar question:
As a Fastlane entrepreneur, how the hell do you win in this new frontier? How do you avoid getting trampled in the impending stampede of copycat SaaS services desperately begging for users?
How do you avoid becoming the software equivalent of a self-published Amazon book that sells 4 copies a year... all to the author's grandmother?
