No coffee no cheating just over 2 days to go!!

Time I'm currently into the fast below which represents my current mood.

Started of easy, then felt awful when I was hungry.

Surprisingly felt amazing for a good hour or so there, now I'm back to feeling like shit and a little dizzy and a slight headache Screenshot_2019-07-17-19-50-00-405_com.lifeomic.lifefasting.pnghaha.

Keep your mind distracted when your feeling shitty, don’t dwell on it too much and also drink lots of water! I’ve had some slight headaches which I’m thinking is no sugar and caffeine related, but haven’t had hunger issues just yet, which I’m thinking will make tomorrow a nightmare

Also what time did you have your last meal yesterday? I’m over 24 hours in now!

Last meal was a protein shake and some beef Ragu after gym at about midnight.

I usually eat alot of food everyday, mostly clean food.

Work was F*cked! took all of 10 minutes for one of the waitresses to ask if I wanted some cake.... Straight up said NO. They where all eating it in front of me. Then another chef drops some stuff on my work bench, here have this!...

Kill me now I thought lol.

Ah gotcha. It’s a good experience, locking into your goals and not giving into temptations. Great job so far!
Not finishing off my boys dinner was the hardest for me so far, goes to show how much of a habit I’m in of feeding him and eating half of it myself along with my own dinner!

I think that the first day might be the most challenging when it comes to mood swings and/or headaches. I also have a slight headache now, but it might be because I didn't sleep well (or maybe it's because I didn't consume caffeine?).

Do they know that you're fasting? If they do, they really love taunting you, don't they?

I love these types of lessons as they make you realize how many little things in life you do unconsciously (and they add up).

I only told one of them about the fast as I got asked so many times I said this is why because I'm fasting...

I'm trying to keep it on the down low, as last time I failed the Andy frisella challenge, I got told a chef seen me unconsciously put a chip to my mouth and take a bite bite, he on PURPOSE didn't tell me and let me do it.

I'm ready to do this. Finished my last meal just before 7:00pm last night (Wednesday). Woke up this morning and weighed myself (196.4 lbs) and took some pictures (Ugh! That was ugly). Excited to see what (if any) changes take place over the next few days.

Feeling the hunger now, around 22 hours in.

Had a walk with my wife two hours ago, doing some groceries.

Man, do fresh, new strawberries smell fantastic. Big thanks to the store for placing them right at the entrance.

Coming back for them saturday!

Started the fast off at 198.8lbs as of this morning. Have a headache from caffeine withdrawal, otherwise I feel fine. Been roughly 16 hours, but I'm used to OMAD so no problem. I've been reading more about Stoic philosophy and this challenge is a great opportunity to practice.

Haha had the same thought when taking pictures.

Haha was just talking with my girlfriend on the balcony, smelling someone's dinner. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't notice them if you weren't on a fast.

How much caffeine do you consume daily?

As for Stoicism, it would be a pretty cool idea to think of other uncomfortable challenges and practice.

I'm 25 hours in now. I had a slight headache since I woke up which transformed into a throbbing bitch of a headache by noon. When I have a headache (it's a recurrent thing, at least once a month) in the end I always have to take a painkiller because it doesn't go away on its own.

I didn't want to take it today considering it's a fast, so I took a nap and tried with a cold compress but when the pain reached levels that sent me kneeling in front of a toilet seat (I literally wanted to throw up because of the pain) I had to relent and take ibuprofen. In the end I wasted 6 hours of my life waiting for the pain to go away, experiencing new levels of physical discomfort, while I should have taken it as usual right when it started and save myself all this suffering...

From what I read it shouldn't be that big of a deal as it has maybe 0.5 calories and is quickly metabolized, so I don't think it breaks the fast. Still, I'm not happy that I wasn't able to avoid it. I didn't take into account that I would get a headache precisely during the fast, but well, it was this or death from pain lol.

Heading for a bike ride now, then the final workout today (yoga) and day one is finished.

I drink usually drink a 16oz black coffee for breakfast, and some times a 12oz around lunch time. Whatever that equates to, I'm not sure.

I am curious to continue pushing myself and practicing self-control. If you think of any new challenges for a newly stoic minded, I would be very interested.

I took a couple Aleve when the headache really set in around 1pm. I still need to be able to work, and the headache was making it too hard to think straight. It wasn't as bad as your experience, though.

Sorry to hear about the headaches gents, I was curious about how I would handle one but mine has been super mild and hasn't gotten worse. I'm into day 2, over 36 hours since my last meal, still going well. Lunch time today will be half way, then it's the home stretch!

When I was younger and played a lot of sport I used to break trainings down into percentages and focus on that instead of how hard it was (or how unfit I was!)

I didn’t know how to word that myself, but put it this way, I cancelled a round of golf this afternoon, I don’t trust being stuck out on the course if I get the need to go right away

I did a 3 day fast last week, from Sunday night to Wednesday night. The last time I did one of that duration was over 25 years ago. I remembef it as being epic. This time it was pretty easy. I did get mild headaches and feel listless on days 2 and 3. Taking some salt with the water, as well as minerals, is great advice. Or maybe some "electrolyte powder." Next time round...

Best wishes, gents...carry on.

Well guys, I failed. Right around 24 hours in, when I would normally eat, I got home from my workout and was feeling really sick, nauseous and my head was still killing me from not having caffeine. I decided I have enough on my plate right now and don't want to jeopardize my other discipline challenge, so I ate some chicken and a salad.

I had a feeling I was piling too much on at once and tonight confirmed it, I'm going back to focusing on one thing at a time. I'll revisit extended fasting some other time.

Best of luck to you all.

The tea I drink contains about 60-70 mg of caffeine (and I only drink it once a day in the morning) vs 90-100 mg in a cup of coffee (180-200 in 16 oz), so your consumption is definitely much higher than mine.

As for the Stoic challenges, I'll think of something and let you know if I have any good ideas.

Yeah, my headache is not caffeine-related as I get it regularly and have no headache today.

When I was younger and played a lot of sport I used to break trainings down into percentages and focus on that instead of how hard it was (or how unfit I was!)

Same for me, I like counting stuff when exercising (reps, sets, percentage done, etc.).

Going good so far, need to up the water intake. Don't think I've had as much as I should have today. Going to end up feeling like shit soon

Get some mineral water, it might be easier to drink because it has a different taste than tap water.

Sorry to hear about that, but it's best to listen to your body and if you felt it was too much, it was too much.

I just had to breakfast this morning. Am I still in?

An ice cube salad was specifically forbidden!

36 hours in.

Definitely, and it's cool that people from all around the world participate.

We're almost halfway through, guys.

DAY 2

Weight: 183 lbs / 82.9 kg, which is -4 lbs / - 2 kg

39 hours in.

Felt very cold yesterday evening. Had some weird dreams. Today I feel pretty good. I didn't feel hungry yesterday and so far don't feel hungry today.

My girlfriend also felt cold yesterday and had a psychological need for food (not a physical one, she just craved specific foods for the taste of them, not because she really needed to eat). She's a little sick but I hope she'll feel better today and keep going.

35 hours and still going.

Hunger noticably hit me around the 24 hour mark, but I pushed through and don't feel it this morning. I have a slight headache, but not as bad as I thought it would be. Also a little head congestion today. I assume it's just my body clearing out some of the crap in my system.

Yeah it's funny that things come in waves. I was cold yesterday evening, fine in the early morning, then cold again later, and now fine, but a little tired compared to just a few hours ago.

I’m about 49 hours since my last meal now, feeling good and ready for tomorrow!

The final stretch!
