IMG_0252..jpg I will post a picture or two from my upcoming 5k's but the posts of my specific weight will be few and far between as the next milestone is 249 which will take a while. In this next phase I will be dropping a pound or two a week. I will say goodbye to the 250s sometime in mid-july.

This country is screwed if the "average American" doesn't wise up to how they're being poisoned.

When I was a retailer, I put candy and soda at eye level for children.

I heard parents say this a lot, "I told you no candy! Now grab a bag of chips and a Dr. Pepper we need to get going!"

So, what did I do?

I put chips at eye level for the kids. It worked.

With even simple marketing techniques like that I'm convinced the average American, and the country, is screwed.

@Vigilante , curious if you checked out your Test levels in your blood work? (don't have to share obviously, just hope all is well in that regard)

Congrats on the hard work and getting results!

I had the blood work done as part of the acquisition (key man insurance) so I went back and looked at it and that was on there and all good.

So yeah, my excess fat was primarily comprised of Krispy Kreme glaze.

This is what we were taught in school (they changed it finally in 2005), and they didn't really shout it from the rooftops when they did.

Yep. Your chart has been in the back of my mind for a long time as I'm engaging on this diet. Thanks for posting it.

I feel like a cheated spouse. MY government fed me this crap? Who is in charge of this? And they're sitting on their fat asses and getting PAID to come up with crap like this?

I'm not disappointed. It goes way beyond that. I'm very angry.

Between the poison we're fed with GMO foods that have been approved, to the mind numbing drug called television, we are certainly not the land of the free and the home of the brave. We're the land of the fat slobs that thrive on drive through fast food that is killing us, and we're too stupid to know or care because we're living our life through what we see on TV!

Just last week I called a company that makes salad dressing out of canola oil. In case you don't know, that oil is made from the rapeseed plant. This oil was first used as an industrial oil and to make insecticides. This oil is a classic example of how bad foods are modified and approved and then rammed down our throats. You can google this to your hearts content. It's bad stuff. The company hasn't responded to my question of how I know this, but they apparently don't. Or they do, but my heath is valued far less than their profits.

A lot of our food is SO bad that countries BAN IT from being imported. But the FDA and USDA let us eat all we want. What the hell are they supposed to be doing anyway? When they do rarely step out and do something, it's either wrong (as in that chart) or so watered down that it's useless. Drinking or smoking MAY lead to conditions that MAY tend to have adverse affects, maybe. Really? Sure about that? Pretty bold of you to take such a stand. Don't forget to pick up your paycheck this week you worthless pile of dung.

Mad as hell.

I estimate 80% of the folks that walked through the door was obese. Of that 80% who were obese, 40-50% was morbidly obese.

Sickening and so sad. I see it now very much in kids, too. When I was a kid, we were all pretty active. Fat kids were rare. Now, not nearly as much.

It’s a great reminder that the Internet reines as supreme equaliser in our modern world.

Gone are the days you must rely on your government for education. Now you can educate yourself away from corrupt bias.

I was at a live theater event the other day, a small cozy venue that seats about 300.

We arrived early and was able to watch every patron come through the door.

I estimate 80% of the folks that walked through the door was obese. Of that 80% who were obese, 40-50% was morbidly obese.

I then realized that I was probably the most fit person there... at least top 5. And I'm not even that fit anymore.

This country is screwed if the "average American" doesn't wise up to how they're being poisoned.

When i see people in these motorized carts, I want to walk up to them and tell them "You don't have to live this way. I can tell you the EXACT steps to take, and it doesn't involve any prescribed pills. Your diabetes would be under control in a couple of months. You would be able to walk around normally again, and have full mobility. Your joint pain would go away. You will be able to go play with your kids or grandkids."

But I don't, because most of them would not believe a word I said. It's too simple. They believe what their doctors tell them. "Here, take these pills that will slowly kill you so that I can make more money."

Sorry, but most of them aren't gonna give up their Cheetos, Ben and Jerry's and 64oz Big Gulp of Coke.

Back to my theatre example above, the fattest guy in the room had to roll in on a scooter. He arrived pretty early like us. While he waited for the show to start, he was drinking one of the large bottles of COKE. This guy is 400 lbs and drinking COKE. I'm not being mean-spirited, I'm freaking sad that people make these choices, and continue to make them, all in the namesake of "it tastes good!"

@Raoul Duke is unique. Most people (literally MOST people) won't just decide, and for those that do... for people like @Chitown and me, some times it is a roller coaster.

This is not the first time I have decided to "diet." It is the first time I have EVER resolved to win though. To life change, permanently. I credit the Millionaire Fast Lane mindset along with resources from here like @Kung Fu Steve and @LightHouse (physician, heal thy self) for teaching me how to create my own destiny.

I think most people look at a program for a fix. And inevitably, the programs let them down because they never changed themselves.

I have had friends and family members go through radical gastric bypass, only to eventually get fat again. Why? They looked for a program to save them, never realizing the power to save them that was required was within themselves.

It's hard, man. Really hard. Not this time for me, but in the past. It's hard to deny yourself of hedonistic gluttonous impulses in a society where there is a dunkin' donuts on every other block, and a billboard for dunkin' donuts on the odd blocks.

I am not sure everyone can do what @Raoul Duke did. I used to think everyone could build a business, but after watching tens of thousands of wannabes cycle through here I'm now not as sure. I think weight loss is the same. I think there's a beast within that can be unlocked, but it is way more simple and to the psych more fun not to watch what you eat (until you get to an absolute breaking point).

I agree with what @LightHouse said last week... I am already the in shape guy that is just waiting for his body to catch up. But I have empathy for the nation of fatsos we live in, because eating milk duds at a movie is fun until you learn that they're actually poison. And some, after learning they are poison, decide to eat it anyway.

Yeah that's why "diets" don't work. I could start a "personal drill sergeant" business. Wake this guy up at 4:30 am, and force him to run. Slap the pasteries out of his hand, etc.. But it won't last if you don't have personal accountability. Like...purge your house of bullshit foods. Do an audit of your home. There are some amazing stories in a documentary on Netflix called The Magic Pill.

Here are a few examples of good meals for those wondering where to start.

We're heading to a local fresh food market tonight in search of what has been reported as a cauliflower pizza crust. 6 carbs total in the whole thing. If it's even remotely reasonable tasting we're in. Hardest part apparently is crisping it up a bit but thankfully I am married to a cook.

That stuff is great, but it expires QUICK. Bought some and 5 days later it was fermented.

No kidding? We just found out about this. It's a lot of work to make these crusts, but just in case you want to, here is one of the easiest recipies:

The Secret To Perfect Cauliflower Pizza Crust | Detoxinista

We have been eating cauliflower for a long time as a substitute for mashed potatoes. Cook em and mash em in a blender, but not too much. You don't want them like whipped cream - a tiny bit chunky is best (or maybe not). With butter, I actually like this better than mashed potatoes.

@Bishop - thanks for the great recipes! Can you post a link where I can find those? They look fantastic, and I'd love to have a "one stop shop" for my meal planning to go on auto pilot.

@Vigilante - so many of us here owe you SO freakin much for your great posts and just getting this topic going. This has been my 7th day - I don't feel hungry or deprived at all. My clothes fit better and I have a lot more energy.

The highest form of thanks that I know, when a thank you is not enough, is: God bless you (and everyone else for their posts).

Very interesting thread. One comment about food in general. Lots of people go the fast food option because it's quick. I started getting my food delivered from a local farm that grows everything on premise about 2 months ago. For $50 a week, I get two large salads, a stir fry that I just need to re-heat, and one soup to go. I choose the vegetarian option but they have organic meats you can order to. What I get in my weekly cooler is basically all my dinners for the entire week. I even took away one of the quinoa entrees away because it was too much food for me.

I hate cooking so this gives me home cooked food without actually doing anything. You can be lazy and still eat good food that is healthy. You just need to look for it.

We spent a long time in the store tonight reading labels. I was very surprised to say that I was not impressed with the cauliflower pizza crust. I think we have to make it from scratch. Way too many additives and by the time they were done the carb savings wasn't significant over a straight pizza crust. Made no sense actually.

It was a great education as we spent over an hour just reading labels. We discovered several new things that will fit perfectly into our new life.

There are nearly as many ways to eat healthy as there are to eat unhealthy. It's just that fat guys don't frequent health stores or healthy departments of normal grocery stores.

We hang out in the potato chip and hamburger bun aisles.

There are so many cool varieties of Natural Foods waiting to be discovered. We have several years of trial and discovery of cool new foods in front of us.

More than anything we want to retrain to cook from whole foods with simple natural ingredients. Processed anything has become the enemy.

I am so happy for your 7th Day. Everything I read indicates you are past the most difficult hurdle. Really after 3 or 4 days I was settled in to a new normal. I'm to the point right now where old foods repulse me. I want the new life 10 times more than I want the pizza.

I want to play soccer. I want to run for an hour on the soccer field and sweat and compete and live. I want to experience things that fat people can't experience. I want to do things that eating ice cream isn't part of.

I want to do something radical with my health so that other people know that the obstacles in their life can be beaten. I want my kids to see me win.

Everything that I've said in this thread is true and if you've read it there's no conclusion other than I am required to press on as turning back really is no option at this point. I've left myself no alternatives.

This is not a diet.

The guy just posted these pics, and I right clicked/saved as soon as I saw them because they are pretty easy to make. You can add your own touches to them, but here are two things that I recommend:

1) Instead of cooking with vegetable oil, or corn syrup or any of that, use Ghee or unflavored coconut oil to cook in. It has the good fats that your body and brain need for optimum health. I put Ghee and Trader Joes Coconut Oil (the flavored kind) in my coffee every morning, with heavy whipping cream (which has no sugar surprisingly). Tastes great!

Trader Joe's Ghee:

Unflavored Coconut Oil:

2) Stock up on Eggs. They are cheap, and are ridiculously good for you. Omelettes, boiled eggs, deviled eggs, over easy eggs, poached eggs, etc.. Alot of different ways to change it up so you dont get tired of them.

Here is a little chart with a recommended shopping list:

I have been drinking a gulp of apple cider vinegar every day.

Not to hijack the thread BUT,

@Kak, Every year around this time I end up getting poison ivy rashes so bad that I nearly go crazy from the itching. I have literally tried everything. I had read somewhere that if you apply apple cider vinegar to the area on the skin, then supposedly it will help ease the itch.
I tried it.
It helped very minimally and so I gave up on it after a day or two. For many, poison ivy rashes only last perhaps two weeks, but with me they continue up to a month. And this happens every year. In the evenings I sometimes have to force myself not to scratch and make it worse. If the wind is blowing, I'll end up getting it.

I read your post regarding drinking apple cider vinegar, and thought that perhaps rather than applying it from the outside onto the skin, perhaps it might work better from the inside if I drank the stuff.

I am literally amazed at the change that has occurred in the past four days! My itching has basically stopped and the rash has dried up to the point that I have not been affected at all, compared to the day I started. In just four days!

Now, it could possibly be coincidence, but I had expected to have to endure at least another ten days of torture before it would subside. But this has been so radical of a change, I am going to continue drinking the stuff daily for any other benefits it might have.

If anyone else has had this issue with poison ivy/oak, I would recommend giving it a try.
If it works for enough people, maybe someone should private label this stuff as a relief from itching. ;)

Thank you for bringing it to my attention. It has been a lifesaver at least for me.

Have you ever been perscribed the Z pack? Steroids supress the immune system long enough for it to dry in 5 days or less. I'd never suffer more than a few days with poisen ivy, you are going a whole month! I think even without insurance it isn't that expensive.

Interesting. Never heard of it. I have tried several oral medicines specifically for this issue to work to no avail. I rarely go to the doctor (usually once or twice a year) and it has been for checkups only. Seems like when I have gone, I haven't been affected with poison ivy.
I hate taking prescriptions but if there is something available, then would definitely try it. If I have a breakout again, and the cider doesn't cut it, I'll make an appointment.
Thanks for the heads up. I'd be willing to try it just to reduce my suffering.

I was drinking last night..... the zpack is for bacterial infections. The 5day Prednisone pack is for poisen ivy.

Easiest way to get it is to go to a patient first or other no appt urgent Care and they will give it to you right there. No need to even see your doctor. It's well worth it vs any other methods. Glad you got the current batch of it drying out, I don't envy you because I know how bad it is!

I am reminded that "Life is Selection".

That society "normal" is bullshit.

I would rather go out in a blaze of glory.

Than sit here with my thumb up my a$$.

Pondering... Should've. Would've. Could've.

Before I committed to daily fasting I did a ton of research on the subject.
Dr. Fung from Intermittent Dietary Management has written a lot about fasting in his mission to treat patients with diabetes.
intermittent fasting Archives - Intensive Dietary Management (IDM)

Also regarding eating out, I heard they put sugar in the salad for flavor. Don't know how true that is but I just prepare meals at home most days.

The bread I looked at the other day had 8G of sugar per serving. That's nearly a 20% of a can of Coke.

I, too, have done a lot of research on fasting. Read both of Dr. Fung's books; The Obesity Code and The Complete Guide to Fasting. Learned of him from another thread here on the forums. Our current fasting schedule that I mentioned previously in this thread is the one he outlines in his Complete Guide to Fasting.
