It's that time again. Finalizing plans for 2018.

In the spirit of sharing (and to get my a$$ in gear), here are my current plans for the new year:

FICTION: Fiction writing is my main income source. I will continue to produce 4-6 novels in 2018, along with attempting to get a traditional deal for a new series. Book 1 of the new series is finished.

NON-FICTION: After completing @MTF's thread about self-publishing, it's time to jump back into the nonfiction world. I'll start with shorter works and take the lessons learned from @MTF to produce no fewer than 10 nonfiction works in 2018.

That's it for me. What are your plans for 2018?

Create new habits that help me increase my chances of success. Not a new years resolution that will fade in 3 weeks. I'd like to work out 4-5 times a week (which ive been doing for a month already :D ) start spending lots of time daily on starting a business (currently lacking on this one). Good luck on your goals OP

1) Launch my eCommerce business by end Feb 2018 (finally)
2) Earn my first US$500 before end Apr 2018
3) Put on another 8 KG more mass and increase my strength in the gym by 50% of current stats
4) Get more confident in public speaking

Hopefully on this same day next year, I would be earning the same amt of $$$ in my eCom business as my already-low-paying day job.

Here’s my goals for 2018.

  • Launch first product mid February, probably day I get back from The Summit.
  • Have total of 3 products launched by end of 2018
  • Have distribution with at least one major grocery chain (200+ stores)
  • Have two 1,000 case + purchase orders
This year is going to be the year I break through. By the end of 2018, my brand will be a household name in my niche.

Start my own e-company. Already registered business and a skeleton website ready to go.
Read/re-read/listen to Unscripted /MFL for motivation.
Develop and tweak MY process, becoming more disciplined and proactive.
Learn from my mistakes and the wisdom of others.
Start to earn some passive income from my ventures by the end of the year to verify the process or if not forthcoming, adjust and tweak the process and the business until it does.
Keep on improving my fitness and tone up so that I remain strong and healthy for the effort needed to improve the lifestyle for myself and my family.
Keep focused on the goal, to develop a business that enables me to live unscripted !
To get to a stage where I can say F*ck You more often than not!

First step is to survive this bullcrap cold snap for the next week. Then, if 2018 occurs and we are not encased in permafrost waiting to be discovered in 23,000 years:

January - Stay on manufacturer's butt about getting my drawings and prototype complete. Attend trade show in late January, I have a possible mentor near the trade show that I'm reaching out to. Build relationships in the industry and find out where my open innovation channels are.

February - Current product completely hashed out, finished prototypes in hand and completing marketing media/sell sheets/demonstration video. Pitch to potential licensees, and try to smartly market my product if necessary, depending on licensee reception. Hopefully be done with the product as far as development goes, start developing the next product. Second product solves the same problem, but is more of a built-in solution that happens at construction instead of a retro-fit for existing.

March - Continue developing second product, follow same path as first product if the process works. Adjust as necessary, get prototype, marketing media/sell sheets, etc. Pitch second product to potential licensees.

April - Thaw the frick out. Continue developing and promoting.

May - The season for both of my products will now be in full swing for the US, I wish I was earlier. Probably a good time to achieve peak interest from most consumers, but definitely too late to have manufactured products in stores for this season. I'll try and navigate this accordingly. Learn > apply, learn > apply.

June - Turn a year older. :( I'll be halfway to 74. Yay. Continue promoting the hell out of my products and working on more.

Planning is gold, but plans are useless. Events in the first few months will dictate the rest. I would like to compress all of this with the second product in a much quicker timeframe if possible. Hopefully somewhere in all of this, be negotiating licensing.

Continue to lose weight in all of this. Lost 42 pounds this year, I'm still a fat bastard. Trying to be a chubby bastard instead.

Its always just a date on the calendar for me... I am looking forward to being able to get some real work done when people get back in the swing of things. Im not looking forward to the crowded gym at the country club.

Continue to build my software business.
Net of $20,000 a month by the end of 2018.

Add the rest of our planned features to our first software product and get #2 out the door as well.
Create more tutorials for our customers and maybe create a paid course by the end of Q4.

  • Optimize my sleep to where I only need 6 hours of sleep a day (Highly recommend reading "Sleep Smarter" by Shawn Stevenson)
  • Wake up consistently at 4:30 am every day (including weekends)
  • Make 100k at my sales job, which happens to be remote
  • Continue putting money into crypto portfolio and hold until a 30-50x return
  • Validate my other business ideas before moving forward. Lost 10 months and 12k last time around so not looking to make the same mistake.
  • After validation, begin business focused around veganism OR an e-commerce hub that will allow me to leverage the skills learned in the lead generation space
  • Go through Eliquid's paid advertising course
  • Learn enough about web development to explain what I want to a more experienced programmer
  • MOST IMPORTANT - Make 5k/month consistently for 5 months so I never have to enter back into the slow lane again.

I treat every Monday as a New Years Day.

For 2018 I'll introduce Quarterly as well as Weekly goals.

Q1 priority will be serving my current DFY clients better, and acquiring more DFY clients.

Serving the DIY market is moved out to Q2 (at least!).

My big goal? Be happy.

Trading:
- another profitable year (no monetary goal since no one can predict what the market is willing to give)
- find a way to achieve a similar performance with "wikifolio" as with my own account (a derivative traded in germany reflecting the performance of a portfolio I manage)
- find a viable setup for a bearish environment (in case needed)

website:
- add good content regularly to my recently launched website
- add trading videos to my youtube channel more regularly

e commerce:
- launch my first product
- add a second one by the end of the year

slow lane job:
- generate enough income from the endeavors above to buy back 1 day/week of my precious time

May all of you have a great and successful year 2018.

This is golden in itself. I’ve been fortunate to work 4 days @ 10 hours in my slowlane job for the past 6 years, and at another job about a decade before. I highly recommend everyone try to negotiate this with your employer, you’d be surprised the employers that are receptive to it if they want to keep you. It’s 20 percent less traveling, gas etc., way more efficient for both parties because you don’t have to stop/start 5 times a week at work, only four. Win/win for both if it can be made to work.

To offload the doing of more of the things I don't enjoy to machines and systems.

To better control information consumption so it's more aligned with my goals instead of consuming mainstream crap.

To focus more accurately on fewer things

I'm in a consolidation phase of my life. I'm trying to pare everything down to dull roar.
In 2018 I gonna:
1. Sell off some stuff I have laying around that we're not using (ie. a fishing boat, a 2N antique tractor, maybe the 2 D-8 bulldozers, and a bunch of smaller stuff)
2. Better organize our building materials -- I just bought another Conex where we can put some of these materials. We'll 86 a bunch of stuff that we don't use or need anymore.
3. Finish up my last 3 mobile home rehabs -- and get them rented. I've rehabbed one after another, year after year, to build up the rental business income.
4. Get some more spaces ready to build out some more RV spots for summertime business.
5. Do more organizing at home. I need to have less stuff and more space for what I decide to keep.
6. Drum roll, please... I'm going to make myself a lot more comfortable in my life and space! That requires me to say no a lot more often. It's going to take me making better boundaries.

Goals for Mattie.
Since I'm Generation X, I think it's time to slam the medal to the pedal in 2018 and start going up to bat on podcasts, videos, and get back in this forum to keep on track! I have to laugh because I was thinking back when I was living Indiana from 1978-1980 and going to school ad close to the Indianapolis 500 speedway. Who thought one day I'd be sitting here in the Fast lane with a bunch of great Entrepreneurs on the fast track. I'm with M.J. on the Health, I've had my time off, this time I need to keep my health on track while I grind and go up to bat with my writing and get my novel finished as soon as possible, besides do what Vigilante suggested, Mental Toughness, Adversity, and Self-limiting beliefs. I suppose time to be more professional and step up. I've studied some new stuff, and not just need to take everything from the last three years, and get it organized, structured, and out there.
One of hell of year, coming up, a lot more stretching, transforming, and be more innovative and creative. A little nervous, but I know everyone in here did their job to preparing me, and still here to give support, and root me on as Generation X. It's a great time to be here, and hope we all do well in 2018. I still have to read M.J's. new book, and perhaps need too at the beginning of the new year.
Thanks M.J. for making this forum possible, and I saw how it changed not just my life, but my son's as well in his pursuit of his own goals.
I hope one day to speak at one of the seminars for this forum, and that would be a blast. Love this group!

This is going to be the biggest year of my "business" life.

The primary goal is to be free of my job and free of living month to month. The way this WILL happen is the following:

1.) Currently editing my first book, which I plan to release by end of January, though I'm going to check with some publishers first (modern music theory). This book will lead to some potential masterclasses, and online video lessons.

1A.) Also going to release at least one other book I wrote for my 7 year old and test the E-Book market.

2.) Created a Card Game that is currently in Alpha testing (13 test groups this week). Looking to release officially 1st Quarter next year. The goal is to make enough money that my wife can quit her job. So far testing is going exceedingly well and everything is moving very quickly. I honestly think this thing will be a joy for anyone playing it. It is amazing the difference I feel with this game, because the goal is not some ideal of my own, but the goal is to make the MOST FUN GAME possible for the players.

Last but really most importantly:

3.) Start an engineering tech company. Lots of things in the works. I will make my first sale in the first quarter of next year. This will happen by doing what I recently read in "Automatic Wealth Builder" where he said to make a 500 box grid for every hour you actively start selling (not thinking about selling, or studying selling, but actually selling) and basically stating that by the time you tick the 500 boxes off..you'll have more than enough freelance/work to keep you busy and leave your current job. This is the plan.

This first year is ultimately about getting revenue up to a stage 1 business (around million dollars a year). Stop playing the scripted slow lane/sidewalker game and become a producer. I know the opportunities are out there. I've put a lot of stuff in motion the last month since reading Unscripted . No More Excuses. This is the year.

1. Either get a sales job or start a side hustle that will teach me sales.

2. Pick one business idea AND STICK WITH IT!!!!! This is going to be extremely difficult for me.

3. TAKE ACTION!!! I live with my parents and have over $10k to experiment with. I have no excuse for why I haven't started yet. I MUST overcome my fear of spending money in 2018.
