Hey everyone,
I need some honest advice and perspective. I've been working on my first SaaS for over a year now, and I'm hitting a wall. Here's the link to my journey thread for context.
The Origin Story:
Everything started because I needed this tool for my own job search. As a tech professional, I was tired of juggling multiple job sites and rewriting my CV for every application. I wanted one simple place to handle everything. Plus, I kept hearing colleagues from Latin America complaining about wanting to move to Europe for better quality of life but finding the process overwhelming.
So I built it: A platform connecting South American tech talent with European jobs, with AI matching and automated resume generation.
The Reality Check:
- ✅ Built a full product (AI matching, resume generation)
- ❌ Minimal user acquisition (~1 signups/month)
- ❌ Starting to question if there's actually a real NEED for this
What I've Tried:
- TikTok campaigns through influencers
- Reddit posts in relevant communities
- Listed in 10+ SaaS directories
- Created a free resume-scoring tool as lead magnet
- Direct outreach to potential users
Nothing has moved the needle significantly.
Where I'm At Mentally:
I know building a business requires endurance, but I'm losing faith in the project itself. Maybe the market isn't there, or maybe I'm solving a problem that doesn't exist in the way I thought it did.
What I'm Considering:
Option A: Pause and study user research fundamentals
- Deep dive into communities (Reddit, Discord, etc.)
- Learn better problem identification frameworks
- Come back with a more validated idea
Option B: Pivot to immediate value tools
- Quick wins vs. long-term promises
- But honestly not sure what direction to go
Option C: Keep iterating
- But I'm running out of ideas on what to test and how
My Honest Question:
How do you know when it's time to move on vs. when you're just in the typical "messy middle"? I don't want to quit too early, but I also don't want to keep grinding on something without product-market fit.
For those who've been here:
Thanks

For those who've been here:
- What helped you make that decision?
- Any frameworks for evaluating persist vs. pivot?
- How long did you give your first attempt before calling it?
Thanks
