Hey fellow fastlaners,
I currently need nathan latkas pro plan because I need his database for my SaaS idea.

Does anyone else have experience with his database and community, or the pro versions and can give me some insights?

Would be very grateful for any opinion in this direction!

Never heard of him.

Just be careful saying "I need". What if you don't need it?

You are right, i dont need exactly him and his software, but a general database. I made some research and his database seems to be the best one.

What are you trying to do?

I want to build a saas software in the online recruiting space because i see enormous problems in this area and want to find big saas companies in that space to optimize their software and then value skew them.

Therefore i am sure i need a database because i know not that much about this market.

This feels a bit backwards.

You want to get a list of SaaS that recruitment agencies use, so you can study what they're doing and then do something better than them?

I'd be concerned you're not going to figure out who you're helping, what you're helping them with, and how you can get in front of them.

I find it helpful to reframe from building stuff to helping people.

Are you trying to help recruiters?

What do they currently spend their money on to run their business, save time, make more money, etc?

What searches do they do online that indicate they've got their credit card out and are looking to buy something?

Are there online communities of recruiters complaining or asking how to do things?

Note how I didn't answer the question in your opening post. Instead, I'm trying to figure out what you're trying to do, and why.

Your language indicated where you are...

I *need* X ...

I *want* Y ...

This tells me you're likely thinking a certain way, and what you think you need is likely not what you actually need.

So now I'm gently leading you to your own conclusion.

Maybe do the same?

Figure out what recruiters are trying to do, and why.

Figure out what they want.

Figure out what they actually need.

Figure out what they'll pay for to solve their wants and needs.

I suspect you won't find that in a database. I suspect you'll find that by engaging your market.

Just my 2c. Apologies if you've already considered this and I'm teaching you to suck eggs.

Yes, I am trying to help recruiters because I learned from my father, who is a management consultant at BCG and in the executive commitee there, that the most important issues (especially in Europe & DACH) in the next 10 years will be a massive skills & specialized personnel shortage. The biggest challenges this will create are:

1. getting more applicants for the important positions
2. convert more of these applicants into employees
3. to keep these employees as long as possible.

The goal is to help the companies that need the most skilled workers & specialized personnel and are therefore most affected by the skills shortage to solve one or ideally more of these problems through my SaaS. And the reason I want to use Latka's software now is that I need to know this whole industry (online recruiting) better first before I can solve any problems at all.

I can't even answer your questions above until now because I don't know anything about potential target groups, their expenses, Google search keywords or other companies in this field. I would like to use this software to find out more about which companies do what in the field of online recruiting and what they are paying the most for as of now, or simply, which company makes the most revenue in the field of online recruiting.

You don't need to know a whole industry better before you can solve any problems at all. You can just find someone and help them.

@eliquid is the SaaS guy in the forum. He recommends solving a problem in an area you already know a lot about.

I would like to use this software to find out more about which companies do what in the field of online recruiting and what they are paying the most for as of now, or simply, which company makes the most revenue in the field of online recruiting.
Do you need software to figure this out?

What SaaS products do recruiters use?

Plug them into the Google Keyword Planner and see what the search volume is for each. Figure that a lot of those searchers are people logging in. Google will probably even suggest closely related keywords (products).

Maybe there's data online about those companies too, that discloses their number of customers etc.

Go find Facebook groups of people using those products. Do they exist? How big are they? Are they active? What are people complaining about?

@MaximilianT I've been helping you in PM's back and forth a bit on every question you had.

I have a whole AMA on the subject where I outline everything too. Really, everything.

I stopped replying to your PM's because I realized ( no offense) that you were basically waiting for every stop light to turn green at the same time, before you started on your trip.

And, all that help I was giving you in PMs, would have been 1,000x more helpful if you asked on the forum where others could have learned from too.

You keep thinking you need all this info, about a subject you know 0 about. Even though you have multiple people telling you otherwise.

All you need to know is 1 company doing this.

From that 1 company, you can find everything you need.

Who is the leader in this space? If you don't know the answer to that.. this is NOT the industry you should be building a SaaS in.

Thank you very much for the reply and the a$$ kick @eliquid i probably needed one. I apologize for the many PMs, the reason for them was just that i currently have huge problems with getting that AHA-moment you talked about in the AMA. I will work more with the AMA-about-SaaS-Thread from now on.

@MaximilianT ... your obstacle isn't lack of knowledge, it's your *belief* that you have a lack of knowledge.

There's lots of threads in the forum that will help. Here's just a few by me. Lots of people have written similar threads. Find one that resonates and it can change your mindset instantly and forever.

Thanks a lot @Andy Black will work with them now on!

You're right, if the goal is to help someone, its a lot easier to find and solve problems. I discover more and moreof my own limiting beliefs.
Limiting beliefs is one thing. We probably all have them, and they're often prefixed with "I need", "I must", or "I should".

More important is getting your goal right. At the risk of turning you into a consumer, here's another thread:

Understood the message, but the goal becomes clearer as i know better the needs and wishes of my market, right?

Your goal is to help them. HOW you'll do it will become clearer as you understand the needs and wishes of your market better.

Let me fix your sentence while I'm at it:

It's also important to say that i'm working together with my cousin @gilli on this SaaS and we are currently strengthening our coding skills to start then with our MVP. Our whole plan is based on the fulfillment of the CENTS and our current main problem is, that we are not (yet) able to build a significant MVP and in addition to that don't have the money to get freelancers or stuff to get it built by someone else. I am learning currently JavaScript and Angular for the frontend from a mentor in this area and will stick to the backend after that.
