What would be better for a teenager to spend their time in, working a minimum wage job or learning profitable skills?

learning profitable skills would be a better investment of your time since youre gonna make minimum wage. Instead of working minimum wage right now, spend time learning so that in the future your time will be worth double minimum wage. For if you do start leaning profitable skills, make sure that you arent action faking. Dont fall into the trap of reading book after book. You can learn a skill while you are selling it to people and if you fail then its another thing to learn from

Both. You have all the time and freedom in the world currently. Lack of real responsibilities and bills. No children or a mortgage to worry about.

Get a job , to have cash flow coming in --> and slowly learning the mindset of proper investing.

BUT don't neglect also having hobbies / pursuits that will lead you to learning profitable skills as well.

Good luck!

Why not do both? For many teens learning skills is code for sit on your a$$ and and do nothing while living on the parents dime. You have to prove your pursuits worthwhile to your parents. Good luck.

Unless you’re slammed with academic work, do both. As you learn a hard skill, you’ll also pick up important soft skills AND earn money that you’ll use to speed up your personal/professional development, experience life, and test out business ideas.

Learning new skills is far more valuable than the small amount of money you can make as a teenager. That being said, learning skills would involve going out into the real world and asking someone of relative success if you can work for them at no cost until they think you are worth minimum wage. This way you can bypass the McDonald's type job and you will have a better chance to enter into a field of more upward mobility.

As @Runum stated, you shouldn't be taking the idea of "learning" as an excuse to only study where you sit and only read books. You need real-world experiences, not just theory.

If I could be a teenager again, I would probably try and look to get into sales or shadow someone in real estate.

Both - Kind of. I think you should both be learning and working a job. But why does it have to be a minimum wage job?

There is almost no excuse for anyone that has interest in money to a minimum wage job. That means you are just going with the flow and doing what's easiest. Not a great Oman for you success as an entrepreneur. Most cities have almost unlimited opportunity to earn more as long as you are willing to put in some work. The easiest example is working at a restaurant as a server or busser. Work hard and you could easily do $5-$10 more than minimum wage. Huge difference.

If you don't need the money then I wouldn't exactly say it's a must to work a job...... But I would still recommend it for atleast a little bit of time. It will teach you the value of a dollar and hard work. The fastlane isn't necessarily about those things but if you foster a good work ethic, your business will thrive.

Its the attitude that counts.

There is nothing wrong with working for a job that does not pay well. Even if you are taking orders for Macdonald you are on a paid study session to learn from one of the greatest business system in the world.

Working for a job is only detrimental when you believe that you are destined for the role forever.

Turning yourself into a winner first and foremost.

When you start off, the “character” of you has no attributes. You start off weak, lame, poor, boring, inexperienced. Your goal is to max the stats like it’s a video game and be a winner.

Your career is a business. Even if you’re employed you’re just selling your labor one unit at a time like a business. Look at it under the same umbrella as “income generation” and think of the best way to go about generating income. It’s usually by starting a business that’s valuable to others. Rarely is your best option for income generation a job

When you are young you should really try stuff. See what sticks try different jobs. Try enterpreneurship, art, a small job w/e. Skills you learn on one field can be transferred to another. Try stuff and take calculated risks at this point (don't go doing dangerous stuff)
