What could I invest in/purchase to actively make money for myself? (like how a Trucker can buy his own Truck to make more money)

I don't want passive income, I want active income. I want to buy something that allows me to put in hard work and make money using that purchase.

A good example is a Trucker. Truckers usually drive company vehicles, but they can also buy their own Truck and make a ton more money that way. Another example is people buying Vending machines or 3D printers. Unfortunately none of those are possible in my circumstances, not cause of money but other reasons.

A website.
Why do people on this site keep saying "websites"? Such a vague answer. And every time you ask them what do you mean a website, what kind, what for? They give you vague answers like "find your niche" or "find out what people's needs are", which is basically like saying "make money by doing things".

Wait what, so you want an active income without "making money doing things"?

"What kind, what for?". You won't get answers to such questions. Why not? Because there is no magic pill. You can make money with a "Dogs with cute costumes" blog or a "DIY Rocketship" Forum. Buy it, make it better, monetize it or sell it, and voilà.

If you're looking for something simpler than that, then I have to disappoint you. There is no formula for wealth without putting in hard work.

Are you focusing on a physical item and/or an ability/skill?

Like for example a tow truck or a real estate licence?

I think that will narrow in a lot on what type of feedback you want here.

Yeah, second this.
The reason people keep saying these vague things is because you asked a vague question. First you have to choose your area and then stick to it. What this area is is completely up to you. Hundreds of people may tell you some ideas that are equally valid, until you come across one suggestion that fits your interest. But the other people wasted their time trying to help you. So most wont try in the first place.
I was in the same situation: Finding the area I want to excel in. I tried a few things until I realized, that this what everyone always tells about: Switching areas to find the right one never works out, you have to stick to one area.
So that is what you have to work now: Decide for an area! Any. The more expertise you already have in that area, the better. But no expertise yet is also acceptable.
The next steps are then:
  • Find a need by asking other people in that area what they need. Most are happy to tell (when they have the time at the moment). If you don't know where to start, find a smaller sub-area and search there. Repeat until you find a need. Hint: It doesn't have to be a new need, but whatever it is, you have to be commited enough to be better than the competition.
  • Find a way (known or new) to satisfy this need. When this needs money up front, you can invest. If not, why complain that you could not use your money. As many already have said: Money is cheap. If your are on the right track, it doesn't matter if you yourself have the money or if you need to take a loan (which will probably be granted by someone, if the spot is indeed good).
I hope this was specific enough. But as I said: The quality of the question decides the maximum quality of the answers. So be specific. ;)

Is everybody on this F*cking forum lacking reading comprehension, or are you intentionally trolling? The whole premise of this thread is that I WANT TO PUT IN HARD WORK. I was criticizing the vagueness of the answers. "making money doing things" was poking fun at the vagueness and pointlessness of the answers. "Hey, you know how you can make money? If you do things!"

Man F*ck this forum, I'm outta here, all the browsing I've done here and I noticed that nobody here knows jack shit, it's all a huge circlejerk of either people peddling their bullshit or just people who do nothing specific and just give general motivation advice or some kind of other generic or general bullshit.

@Johnny boy is building a lawn care business.

There’s plenty of cleaners who started out with just a bit of equipment and training.

I dare say lots of van drivers are in demand at the moment doing deliveries while people are in lockdown.

@Lex DeVille has a thread somewhere where he was going to start a shed building business. Is there a big demand for home offices now?

Lots of folks doing real estate, investing, etc.

You can rent any of these things or use most of them to make money.

Do you have any specific hard skills?

WAHHHHH I AM SO MAD! I WANT TO PUT IN HARD WORK, BUT ONLY AFTER YOU'VE GIVEN ME INSTRUCTIONS BECAUSE I CAN'T THINK FOR MYSELF!

Sounds like you should be an employee, my man.

1. But my problem is that I have no idea what to learn. I have no interests, not even talking about passions but interests in general. I just want to make money but because of my lack of interests I have no direction.

2. I'm already 29, not going back to college for sure. I have degrees that I hate in useless social sciences, and I live in a country where those are even more useless than elsewhere.

3. So I need to teach myself something that I can then use to provide a service. What could that be, could anybody give me some directions please? Much appreciated!

That's intense, man. Let's see:

Your biggest problem is that you have no interests and drive. Drop all the things you're distracting yourself for the majority of your day with, such as video games, smoking, and porn for a few days, and ask yourself this:

"If you were born in the "perfect" country, family, and environment along with infinite wealth, what would you be doing?". Any "impossible" goal that comes up is a good start.

See if that leads you somewhere. If it does, make a plan for what you need to do every day to get you to that goal and start doing all that boring, tedious stuff necessary to get you to the financial level that will allow you to live the life you fantasize about. It's either a skill or a product, I'd say skills are easier to start with zero capital and are very scalable. Leverage your "useless" social sciences degrees in whatever you end up doing.

Buy a construction equipment/machinery, get a license to use it and start making money. Like a small excavator and if that makes sense in your area, dig ponds. Or buy a tree transplanting machine. There are tons of different specialized machines. They all also cost quite a lot (depending on the size and power), and require a specialist to operate ACTIVELY, and they pay well too!
And the scaling possibilities are endless. Hire workers, expand your services.

Here you go buddy:

NOTABLE! - Starting a lawn care service business | The Fastlane Entrepreneur Forum (thefastlaneforum.com)

EXECUTION - Gravy's Hustle Thread: $100k/mo or Bust! | The Fastlane Entrepreneur Forum (thefastlaneforum.com)

There was also someone making bank with carpet cleaning...was it @IceCreamKid?

You could get some pressure washing equipment and offer that as a service. @Lex DeVille has a 3D printing thread somewhere + he was also getting into woodworking (I think?), he dropped it but it's an idea nonetheless.

If you are more into tech stuff someone was selling customized Raspberry Pi to connect to TVs into commercial places to display ads. I'd link the thread but I can't find it.

Good luck with your endeavors.

Wtf! Don't send that *** to my threads! He already said, "nobody here knows jack shit."
I think that was a knee jerk reaction to some of the responses. Time will tell.

This escalated quickly.
I do wonder if this was just a sudden burst of anger at being faced with rightful criticism. It's a tough place when you don't know what you want to do and you're not getting any younger. But blaming the place you live in or the people you ask questions from is quite pointless. So is, in my opinion, listing every single physical asset there is that can make money for you.

Slightly related...

Our 12 year old just came in giggling. “Dad. Could you buy a 3D printer, print a 3D printer, then return the 3D printer?”

I recall asking a similar question when I was around that age. I don't remember the specifics, but it was along the lines of "can you use X to "infinitely loop" itself?".

I'll think about it and post the entire question if I ever manage to remember it.

OP is rephrasing previous question to this thread even though he had the answer in the previous thread.

@anon9601 Perhaps a mathematical formula will help you:

Your skill set + the equipment needed = Sell service or/ Sell product.

1. driving license + Truck = trucker
2. driving license + uber = cab driver
3. 2 hands and 2 feet + lawn mower = lawn cutter
...

Your question is very basic

Why do people on this site keep saying "websites"? Such a vague answer. And every time you ask them what do you mean a website, what kind, what for? They give you vague answers like "find your niche" or "find out what people's needs are", which is basically like saying "make money by doing things".
I agree with you.

But to give useful and specific advice it would help if we knew about your goals, situation, skills, etc.

Personally, I run a lawn care company and I enjoy a pretty nice lifestyle just a couple years into it, have employees do all the work and it's doubling in size every year. I think that my type of business is something you would like to do since you say you want active income. I bought the truck and trailer and equipment and away I went. I'm 24 and I'll never have a job again.

I'm not peddling anything. I have no course or ebook to sell. If you wanna chat more about it just send me a message or something. I have lots of free time because I'm on vacation until late February.

To be able able to make money working for nobody you have to be:
1- Willing to learn and keep learning
2- Patient
If you haven't developed enough patience to read and interact with other people, even if it includes criticism, then you need to work on that first. If you accumulate enough learning you will gain the golden skill, asking the right questions. The dumbest questions are trackable on google :) "how to make money fast".

My favorite quote:
"The most successful people are the ones who know how to use failure."

Why?
Because many people make money off “websites”
What do they sell?
Everything.

find a niche? That q is to vague?

That’s the work you need to do that’s hard work. That’s your investment.

Instead of the hard work you need to do driving a truck. But if your giving up after answering a q good luck finding a job and working in anything for the man for 30-40 year so you can suck the teat till death.

The people that gave you those questions sound like they were pointing you in the right path. Shut up and listen...to them then the market...open up the business, fail, learn, listen, open again, fail learn, etc.

When you can answer that question they asked correctly you’ll be printing money.

There’s a thread on here for ideas that are good but the people that have them are too busy. Look that up.
