A lot of people plan to make "new" or "change" or "add to" for their plans on the New Year.
But I'm giving up things instead. What about you?
I'm giving up:
1. Small to med client work. Anything I do moving forward will be productized or SaaS or large projects if it involves other people.
2. Forums. Yes, that includes this one. This has been one of my fav forums, but the time has come to focus and put head down even more as I push limits. It's going to be hard to not check in, but it needs to be done.
3. Working on Wednesdays. Parkinson's Law here. I feel that I will be more productive cutting out the time allowed to do work. Plus, I want to have an extra day of rest during the week to refresh, unplug, think, plan and run errands I need personally.
4. Getting up late. I got into the habit of waking up at 8, but not really getting up or doing anything until 10. I want to start getting up at 5 again and starting work by 6. Trading this routine for my Wednesday take off day seems a better exchange. I always told myself that since I don't go to bed ( and still work ) until midnight/1am that this was ok. It's not anymore.
5. Waiting on other people. This is far complex to go into, but I'll give an example. Say someone tells me they wanna do lunch with me on Tuesday at 2pm somewhere 30 min away from my house to talk business. I'd typically clear off my schedule for Tuesday from noon until 4 thinking I'd have enough time to shift mindset, think, prep and drive to the location.. then spend time eating/chatting and allowing myself time to drive home. Only to find they cancel at the last minute ( right at 2pm ) , not show up, or not talk business at all/do a deal. Meaning, I wasted 4 hours for nothing clearing my schedule. This happens more and more frequently as the years pass by. It's actually the normal now.
That's me. What about you?
Are you giving up anything for 2022?
