What's up everybody, it's nice to meet you all!
I started reading The Millionaire Fastlane in the end of September.
Finished it about 2 weeks ago. And have wished I've read this years ago.
I'm currently listening to the Unscripted audio book and I'm loving it.
And just picked up Rat Race.
I'm 37, living in NYC. Working as a Product Manager creating customer facing apps.
Prior to 2015, I had been laid off a couple of times.
And from 2015 through 2017, I was going no where.
I was working uber, bartending and partying.
I was doing the Sidewalk thing.
Then I had that moment, I needed to get it together.
Part of that "getting it together" was to find a career making over 100k.
But the problem is my degree was a bachelor of arts.
Not many options. Then a friend told me about tech industry.
If I learn to code, it was realistic that I can get in.
So I taught myself how to write code.
Started the journey in the beginning of 2018.
By the end of 2018 I got the 100K job.
Now I am doing the Slowlane thing.
I am comfortable.
But I am miserable in this Slowlane.
I have this rage inside of me that I can't live like this.
I hate the road I am on.
The spark to do something about it came to me about 1 year ago.
I started reading books about entrepreneurship through acquisition, and it gave me hope.
So for the last year I've been looking for businesses to buy.
But most of what I found either felt like you're going to replace your 40hrs p/week with a 80hrs p/week type of job plus higher risks with a SBA loan.
Others businesses I saw for sale either had easy barrier to entry or platform risks or scalability issues.
Then I started thinking what if I build something of my own, I mean if I was going to invest capital to buy a business, I should try building something myself, be my own boss, make money working for myself.
When I read TMF , I realized I was going about this all wrong.
Its about what problems and issues can be solved or improved on for customers.
The book shifted my mindset on how to approach building a business, along with many other areas in life.
The book left me feeling that I can be part of the Millionaire Fastlane.
The keys and the framework have been provided, now I just have to get to work.
But, I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what pain points to solve.
I've thought about processes at work to improve on and scale, but so far my ideas doesn't pass the CENTS test.
I've tried to think about pain points I've encountered in the recents months, I've jotted down a couple ideas.
But mostly I'm just blanking.
My weekends are my free time. So I started spending more time outside, going to cafes and walking around, just to get ideas flowing.
But it feels like I have no reception.
During the week I'm drained. I use a lot of mental capacity at work. And 3 days out of the week I get home around 9pm because I go to the gym after work.
I'm hungry and eager to start.
That is a little bit about me.
I'm excited to be here.
I'm looking forward to learning and improving and providing help where I can.
