I'm a marketing agency owner (I know way too many of us lol) who scaled from $1,970 to $10,000 a month while working a job which I quit in December 2024.
My average monthly revenue last year in 2025 was $9,600 with my peak revenue reaching $11,070. My aim for this year is to nearly double to $18,564 a month consistently.
The way I'm going to do that is increase new clients from 1.6 a month via Upwork to 2-3 clients a month via Upwork and LinkedIn.
From a retention perspective, I want to lose a maximum of 1 client a month which I think is very much possible as clients on average stay for 6-8 months and I've had numerous client stay with me for multiple years.
If I hit those "simple" revenue and retention targets I'll exceed my goal.
This thread will be about documenting my journey, especially figuring out LinkedIn. It's a whole beast but I know there's definitely money to be made...
After trial and error, stopping and starting in 2025 I FINALLY managed to consistently book calls. The way I did this is:
Connect --> Offer Free Value --> Share Free Value in DM (if they accept) --> Book a Call --> Sale
So far I've completed 2 sales calls, got 1 verbal yes and booked a 3rd sales call for March '25 using the above approach.
I may also optimize my Upwork profile further but not urgent because I want to move away from that platform to attract higher quality clients with bigger budgets.
My bottle necks are:
1. Volume of messages, LinkedIn caps you to 200 connections a week so going to add a team member profile to double my volume
2. Service delivery doesn't work without me - my project manager needs prompting and reminding which isn't sustainable despite several nudges. In the middle of hiring an A-player to replace them
3. Client Success Manager - they're great but only available part time and their performance has started to dip. Less urgent then project manager but they will need replacing too
4. Shift from many part time team members to fewer higher quality full time ones
Will keep the thread updated, I found the last one I did helped me stay accountable and I enjoyed reviewing my progress and seeing how far I've come.
Especially on days when it feels like things will never click, can remind myself that I've figured it out before and I'll figure it out again.
Onwards & Upwards x
P.S I may also make a video tiktok series documenting my journey, I found entrepreneurship can be lonely and it's super difficult finding likeminded people even in a huge city like London... I'm in the "messy middle" where I've quit my job but I'm by no means rich... I've met a few cool people from courses, but most are wannapreneurs, unfortunately. If you've got tips on fixing that, let me know.
