I have even more respect for JP now. It takes guts to publicly admit you were wrong and that you've changed your mind... Something few people are able to do.

Look, simple fact is, owning guns makes you badass. More guns you own, more badass you are. I'm getting pretty badass. Plan to get more badass this year.

How about his mug on your coffee mug? Come on man, I need to know what to get you for your birthday.
This would be awesome. Then everytime I'm slacking or feeling sorry/tired I just look at my mug and decide to STOP BEING A BITCH!

All this talk of guns, and JPs latest video, has really made me miss mine. I need to figure out how to get some in Mexico. All the gangsters here have them, I should be able to as well.

I like David Goggins. But it seems like people use him as a motivation tool which sets them up for more of the same failures they already have. That's kind of ironic since I remember him speaking against that in his book.

Goggins doesn't use music when he works out. He reaches deep inside of himself to find what he needs to complete the task at hand. Turning to Goggins to motivate yourself is no different than turning to music.

I think this is a huge problem now. Look at all these young kids on the forum who have no will. No sense of intrinsic motivation. They come in guns blazing after reading MJ's books, and fade out like a shooting star in a week.

Goggins embodies intrinsic motivation, but everyone tries to use him as their extrinsic motivation. Seems like setting yourself up for failure if you ask me. Maybe that's just how it is.

You're right. That's probably a part of why he's so popular.

People see him as motivation. Motivation only gets you fired up and makes you feel good. Discipline and habits and a why keeps you going.

Goggins is great but people just take out certain parts they like.

I don't know if people/things have changed. Being an entrepreneur or fastlane isn't for everybody and that's okay right.

Studying the man and his principles can be extremely valuable.

Using him to "motivate" yourself to do something worthwhile is sort of like watching porn to get it up for your girlfriend.

There should be no "motivation" involved here. The point is to enjoy hard work (in both meanings of this word) without additional stimulation (else something is really messed up in your life).

Excellent post! I agree with you. The problem for many young people is that they haven’t gone through what Goggins has, so it’s hard to find the intrinsic motivation to keep pushing themselves the way Goggins does it. Without the setbacks and tragedies and demons he had to deal with, it’s hard to produce the same kind of drive (and it’s questionable whether that kind of drive is actually healthy).

So that kind of drive and internal motivation only emerges out of certain life experiences. If you lack those, it’s hard to motivate yourself in the same way. Which explains why so many rely on the much weaker external motivation.

There should be no "motivation" involved here. The point is to enjoy hard work (in both meanings of this word) without additional stimulation (else something is really messed up in your life).
I don’t listen to music or use any external motivation for working out. I’ve been doing high intensity workouts for 20 weeks straight now, 3 days per week. However, I find it harder and harder to do them. I fear that one day I will slip. My mind just finds it more and more painful to go through the process, and it’s devising ever more ingenious ways of trying to procrastinate.

I agree with what you’re saying here. I do enjoy hard work on my businesses for example. I’m exactly in the state you describe above there. But for physical workouts I’m definitely not…

It’s actually fact that the more money and guns you have the freer you are.

Money and guns are the only thing that makes a government.

Don't forget theft, lies, and institutionalized stupidity! The Five Pillars of Governance!

But seriously, guns (force) are one leg on which self governance stands. The other is production (~money). So yeah, guns and money are foundational to freedom and agency. Foundational to tyranny and serfdom too! Imagine that! The same things, and the only difference is who has them and who doesn't.

I met a guy yesterday who built his own entirely self sufficient community (which I toured). A dozen acres or so of land, a main house, 5 or so rental houses, a barn, workshop, some crops, water wells, solar generation, and some ponds...

Definitely had a “shrimp shack” moment @Kak

The man was very old, extremely kind, and one of the sharpest people I’ve ever met.

Lol!!! Check out this definition of Racism by the Anti Defamation League:

Racism: The marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarchy that privileges white people.

I will make sure to tell that to the people heckling me the next time I am outside in Mexico City after the sun goes down...

We need to colonize the solar system so I can get away from these psychotic ***holes. Otherwise the urge to punch them in the face just keeps growing, you know?

Midnight thoughts...

If muscle is how we compete, we have no chance against buffalos.

I guess building our minds is a pretty good option, eh?

Yep. We'd have no chance against a lot of wild animals if we were to just get into a physical fight with them.

Neanderthals had more muscle than us. But they were also lazier and most of them didn't venture out too far from their place of birth.

They were also adept at sprinting rather than distance running.

So nature said F*ck that and created the fiercest predator of them all - Homo sapiens.

We're leaner (more efficient thermodynamics), way more intelligent, much more inclined to get shit done, and with bodies that are better suited for distance running.

Essentially, no matter how strong, ferocious, or fast the animal is that we're hunting, it will slow down and/or collapse at some point from exhaustion and the superior Homo sapiens will just catch up to it with its insane endurance AND intelligence, and kill it - rendering its strength advantage completely useless.

But who cares about evolution, right? Let's get big and juicy and flex on social media.

Oof, so my unusually high 'Neanderthal number' may be working against me after all? Oh well, time to go sharpen pencils until I feel smart again
