My why is because I can, nothing more nothing less. No one can tell me what I can and cant do that’s up to me to decide and prepare for the ups and downs. If it all goes wrong we will be back at square 1. Working for someone until you get back on track.


Lets see if we can retire at a young age, not just hope we can!

I want to be filthy rich, just because I can. You only have one life (as cliche as that is), why would you spend it being normal, slaving away for someone else for some measly pay? F*ck that, I want to travel, drive nice cars, live in luxury. I often think I sound like an a**hole for saying that, but it's what I want so why not try to achieve it?

Building a business and leaving my job is a blessing that I worked towards and feel very grateful for.
I could not have done it without support from my family and from the right mentorship from biophase.
In addition, making a few fastlane friends here who I am really good friends in real life has been a major rock for me mentally. I give all the credit to life's influences and the people who have been kind to me. Yes, I've put in the work and the hours of course but so many things had to happen for me to have the work ethic to begin with. So it is difficult to take the credit and say "I did this". Honestly, for me it's impossible to say that "I did this". I put in the time and the rest was just blessed (yes, sometimes I get a bit spiritual with this game). That is why what I preach the most is - how much time are you putting into your business? If you are starting out, it should be multiple hours per day consistently.

My WHY was simple. Why Not?
Why not do my best and try all I can to find a way out of the corporate job and live a freedom fastlane lifestyle.
I used to go to work from 9-6 pm... I got all this spare time in the evening... so why not use it for something that can blossom into something fantastic?
If others can do it, why can't I? It's not NBA where I need to be a certain height to play. So I can do it!
If others can do it successfully, so can I as long as I choose to invest my energy in it.
The only thing I can't control is how long it would take but I'll be out there swinging the bat at every single shot no matter how silly I may look. What else is there to do in life besides swinging the bat at the fastlane ball? So there really is no better thing to do than to work on a fastlane in free time.

Personally, I want to pursue the arts and it generates little to no money for time invested.

Having passive income will allow me to receive an income, and enough free time to spend my hours actually doing what I care about.

How I make money don't really matter to me just so long as I have it and freedom.

My why is to clear the debts I've incurred, move to where the sand, sea and sun collide, and pursue the active lifestyle I have come to adore.

I've been thinking about this thread for a while now. It's hard to put my why into words, but here goes:

No one is guaranteed another day.

• An ex-girlfriend of mine was diagnosed with cervical cancer 4 days ago (she's only 25).
• A friend of mine died of cervical cancer 2 years ago at 24. She was a famous musician that participated in a lot of charity work with children. Then boom... after diagnosis, she was dead within 9 months.
• My uncle worked hard and saved all his life. A year after retirement he began to show symptoms of Parkinson's Disease. In 3 short years, his quality of life has deteriorated massively. (He went out golfing with my dad this past weekend and collapsed on the course.)
• My girlfriend's mom just retired earlier this year. 2 weeks ago she finds out her kidneys may be shutting down.
• I could go on

Meanwhile, if I died today (at 36), I think my last thoughts would be "Well, that was a waste."
I'm proud of the charity work I've done, but other than that all I have are regrets of opportunities missed.

I've worked fairly hard all my life, saving like crazy for retirement. But after a couple layoffs, I have only 11k in Roth IRA.
I've come up with some great ideas/systems/designs that added value for my employers. But after leaving those companies, I have no assets of my own.
I've scrimped and saved on luxuries because I value the security of a hefty savings account. But after my most recent layoff, I'm eating rice and beans out of necessity instead of thriftiness.

I feel like I've done everything "right", but I ultimately have nothing to show for it.

My why:
Cultivate ultimate freedom.

• Life is absurd. I want to have freedom to treat it as such. I want to run a business like an art project if I want to. With FU money, no one can tell me that I'm making silly decisions, because I will have proven that I am an expert at creating value.
• I only get one body. I want to find out what mine can do. I won't let my life choices be limited by a body that I've neglected. ("Hiking up, then paragliding off the Alps? Sorry, I ate Captain D's for 20 years. Pass.")
• I only get one mind. I want to have ultimate focus and intellect at the snap of a finger. I won't focus it on consuming only entertainment, or finding outrage porn on cable news. I will be a lifelong learner.
• I want to have no guilt about spending on things/experiences that make me truly happy. If money is tight, it closes off so many of life's opportunities to me. Right now, I can't spend a dime on anything that's not helping me build income, and it really sucks to live like that.
  Further, I won't buy shit just to impress others. I'll spend for me.
• Help people less fortunate than I am. People living at the margins of society (elderly, poor, sick, uneducated, abused, etc) have less opportunities than I do. Yes, a portion of them have dug themselves into that hole, but there is a segment of the country wants to believe it's ALL those people's fault they live that way. I've been fortunate enough to have been shown another path, and I'm duty-bound to go back and help lead others.

I want to distill my "why" down into a motto or something... but like I said, I'm having trouble fully articulating it.

Taking the kids to the hurling wall on a Wednesday afternoon? Riley will disagree but I class this as a win for me.

The little squeal he lets out as I catch him after the turn, and his giggling face looking over his shoulder as I track him back... That’s my why.
