Thought I'd create a progress thread for a wee project we're starting in our county.
A friend (who I met years ago in this forum) lives in the same county as me and has been a tradesman for years.
I'll set up the Google Ads campaigns, and I paid my developer friend (who I also met years ago in this forum) to create a simple page on a domain I own.
My tradesman friend will pay the ad spend and take the phone calls, WhatsApp messages, and form fills. He can do what he will with the leads, either servicing them himself, or sending them to other tradesmen he knows (he says he knows loads of semi-retired guys who'd love to keep doing a bit of work). Maybe we end up signing up a few to be clients of the "directory".
Here's the first iteration of the homepage (with zero input from me).
We'll add a WhatsApp button, and a tap-to-call button once I get the contact details from tradesman-friend.
We normally default to having a button to open the form, so we can track clicks on the button as well as form completions. This helps us figure out what copy works best on the button to get people to click, and we can then work on the form after without affecting the % of visitors who click the button.
Once the page is set to send enquiries, I'll get a Google Ads account created, get my friend to input his billing details, then I'll create campaigns for all the local services, multiplied by all the locations in the county (plus the county name of course). Then I'll create "near me" campaigns, targeting people physically in the county.
