I've gone through the audible version twice. My favorite business book ever. I loved it more than Fastlane, and I thought that book was fantastic too.

And, it won't matter at all that I read either of these books if I don't take action!

Yes, repeated action that forms a habit that forms a lifestyle...

P.S. What's the Speedway Pass Badge for?

It's a private forum that you're given access to after a specific # of days here, posts, and rep points. The threshold is pretty low however.

About 40 pages in after 1 hour of reading! Kindle on Amazon for 7$!

Thanks @MJ DeMarco !!

Random question: Would you consider porn to be a hyperreality? I kind of think its created to subdue the masses IMO.

MJ, I read the book. I have also seen several of your interviews on youtube. Your honest approach to delivering this message is exemplary. I can't thank you enough for coming up with this masterpiece.
Best,

@MJ DeMarco I just finished Unscripted and to say that I've been scammed in this life is an understatement. :( Thank you for unplugging me from the matrix.

Off to check GOLD & NOTABLE threads as suggested - which deserve to be made into another book!

I'll put together an introduction soon.

Just finished Unscripted too!

It's worth a second read for sure, and I am planning to read it again in 6-12 months, just like I did with The Millionaire Fastlane , to better internalize the concepts.

Would you consider porn to be a hyperreality?

Sure, it's faking a relationship, no different than faking your heroics on a video game. As with most hyprerealities, it becomes a problem when your fake relationships are more important than the real ones.

Purchased this book the week it came out back in May. I just finished reading it last night. The reason it took so long was purposeful. I didn't want to devour the book in two days. Instead, I wanted to read a page or two every single day to get my mind into the mental habit. After so long, MJ's blunt style is in my mind constantly.

There were two portions of the book that resonated with me the most. The first was the visual of the dog lying on a nail. I realized that I long ago created a life that was too comfortable. For instance, seven years ago, I purchased my house in cash. This allowed me to take life too easy. The second portion of the book that stood out was the small part about Black Friday. I lived through that in real time. My entire poker bankroll was wiped out that day. The only issue I take with the book is to point out that those on Pokerstars and Full Tilt were eventually made whole (by Pokerstars who bought Full Tilt in a deal with the US Department of Justice). All my money was on the Cereus network, and on that day, I had to start over from scratch. I never got a penny of my winnings. I quit poker a few years later because it affected my mood, and this was challenging since I have kids. Besides, it's time to take my life in a different direction, one where value creation is the centerpiece.

Unscripted is truly a masterpiece. I will continue my daily habit of reading a page or two from either Unscripted or The Millionaire Fastlane for the foreseeable future. Having that constant reminder of what I need to do with my life is a very good thing.

I bought both the paperback book of UNSCRIPTED and the audio book a few weeks back. I read the book at night before bed, and listened to the audio book commuting to/from work. I blasted through the audiobook wayyy before the paperback, but I've finished reading UNSCRIPTED !

For me, UNSCRIPTED was an icy blast of water and a slap to the face. Wake up! I've tried a bunch of entrepreneurial things over the years, and admittedly half-assed it at every point. No more bullshit excuses! I've learned being in true service to people brings much more success than "trying to figure out what to sell to people" (my old way of thinking). UNSCRIPTED has been liberating: given me focus to work on only what's important, skip the action-faking, and seeing/treating those shackles in my life (mortgage, job, expensive car, hyperrealities) for what they are...a slow lane to a regretful life.

I don't want regrets. I want a life well lived.

Thank you, MJ, for a book that's rewired my thinking, given me renewed hope and drive for success, and replaced my world view. There's no book out there I've read that has done that.

...I bought The Millionaire Fastlane , and am reading that now...

I've read UNSCRIPTED and I'm starting my second pass through the book.

I'm currently struck by two ideas in the book:
1) "The difficulty is the opportunity"
2) "Innovation and/or Improvement" are the two primary ways to create value

There is something in those two ideas that hopefully helps me start to "rewrite my own UNSCRIPTED story".

Thank you MJ!

American Island of Saipan in the Marianas Trench.
I'll brand my home the Marianas Trench as "The WWII Islands."

I will use it as general guidelines to help my islands of the Marianas Trench. We were where the 2 atomic bombs took off, and there was a Battle of Saipan where I live.

I'm specifically from the island of Saipan.

MJ! Bomb a$$ books brother. Read both!

For this second book, since I read the first one, I jumped around and skimmed the 2nd book to see important parts. Honestly, the layout of the second book? Easier to understand with the bullet points.

First book, I loved the quick run through at the end. Chapter 45, FASTLANE SUPER CHARGER helps too.

Finally read it! Now I recommend it instead of TMF because is like TMF with steroids. But as Eric Ferner said just above, I still love much more TMF.

Ran into a friend today and we ended up talking about various things. I ended up mentioning Unscripted as worth a read to him.

Now that there's several hundred out there in the wild, guess it is time to start a thread for those of you who have read (or listened to!) UNSCRIPTED !

I didn't even know this book existed until a few months ago (although I LOVED the first book @MJ DeMarco wrote, I was too busy taking ACTION these past few years that I didn't realize he released this one). But when I found out about it, I went straight to Amazon and got myself copy.

Then, I finished it the exact same day I got it in the mail.

Although I consider The Millionaire Fastlane a masterpiece, MJ outdid himself with Unscripted . If The Millionaire Fastlane is Terminator, then Unscripted is Terminator 2 (let's just hope MJ's 3rd book -- if he ever writes one -- isn't as disappointing as Terminator 3!).

Unfortunately, I don't have any copies of this book left. I've given all the ones I had out to family and friends... so I guess that means I need to buy another!

Read Unscripted -- excellent book! I always think in terms of expected value and thus loved that part; the colored gumball analogy also was fun and made the point well. I can't believe some people actually live life dominated by what they see on TV and in entertainment and all that, and I appreciate you being out there trying to figuratively shake people by the shoulders and snap them out of their haze.

You might get occasional grief because Unscripted doesn't spoon-feed people any million-dollar ideas for them to try, but obviously no book can do that.

Reading Unscripted again.

"The Paradigm is Shit" section is like a bitch-slap to the face each and every time. When I start to slack off or fall into some self-pity BS, I re-read this and get back into ACTION.

Thank you, @MJ DeMarco !
