Is it currently possible to hide posts from certain members of my choosing so I can read a thread without seeing what they post?

What would you do differently to make this forum better?

#1 - I would put a "PM Me" or "Converse with Me" link on user profile pages. If I find someone interesting and I follow them, it would be useful to be able to message them privately from the same page. It took me a week to figure out how to PM someone... *facepalm*

#2 - Facepalm smiley, keyboard facepalm smiley, or headbashing a brick wall smiley

#3 - Consolidate the Featured Posts on the homepage to be accessible at a single location. I recently read part of a featured post & I couldn't find my way back to it

Here are my suggestions:

• When a new member joins, they should be required to make an introduction by answering specific questions via a questionnaire (not sure if the software has this feature).
  • These questions will help filter out those who are serious about being a part of this community and those who have ulterior motives
  • Existing members, moderators or high rep members get to vote on the person being "ungated"
  • Until they make an introduction, they're limited to being a "lurker"
    • This should make it easier for the moderators to manage the forum as it filters people on the way in
  • I understand this will create a barrier to entry for new members, but I think it will help increase the quality of the community
• Resources Section
  • For example, in the Social Media section, if someone shares a valuable guide, it would go into the Resources section under that category
  • This will make it easier for members to find these things, rather than having to go through each thread (similar to how Facebook has a resources section in groups)
• Bring back INSIDERS calls

If I think of more, I'll let you know.

Thanks to all the moderators and members who contribute! This really is an amazing community and I'm grateful to be a part of it. There's so much great information here I feel like I've only scratched the surface.

Not that I'm aware of. If I had to post a table, I'd screenshot it from Excel or something. (Or maybe use the CODE block?)

I tried positing from excel but no use. Tried using the code block. No use. This forum software does not support tables. I think you have to install the plugin to get it to work. Could be useful. Something like this:

Maybe enable it in the backend? Or maybe not since I think xenforum doesn't support tables?

I believe that option is only available with an INSIDERS sub.

One way that may increase progress thread value would be to add a button that readers could click on that says "non-action" or something similar. When a threshold is reached these useless progress threads go to the landfill.

I thought of something today. Maybe a thread created by a moderator or even a section for affiliate deals.

Mostly for things like Fiverr, upwork or any of the other websites that provide services we need and offer referral coupons. "Get a friend to sign up and get $5 off" That way both forum users get a discount on things we'd be getting anyway.

Obviously not a spam catch all for crappy affiliate stuff, but if we're all buying Udemy courses or a service on Fiverr, could be helpful.

I think a badge for those who have sold a business in the past would be cool.

Seems like there's a lot of threads about this lately and quite a few folks here have done this on their journeys and it's one of the major milestones and goals for most entrepreneurs. Not sure how the vetting process would work though.

• Most watched
• Most bookmarked comments

Sub-categories: all time, this year, this month, this week.
