A few hours ago I posted that I was concerned that I would have to rely on another company. There is only one company (as far as I know) that sells gum base in the United States and I don’t want to rely on them because that violates the Commandment of CONTROL. I can get the same ingredients 1000 times cheaper. It probably doesn’t sound that exciting but I am so excited right now. Importing goods seams like a great idea to my partner & I.

You’re still technically violating CONTROL. Just in China...

I still stand by my post in your other thread.

I also think Made In USA will start to carry some more weight going forward. Something to keep in mind.

I'd be careful. The US in the middle of a trade war which is likely only about to get worse.

Just make sure that price cutbdoesn't come at a cost of quality. If it is, you aren't really gaining.

If you travel outside the US, you will realize that the made in US only really holds weight to Americans.

Made in US doesn't really hold weight internationally. What does though...Made in Italy, Japan, and Germany.

That’s what I mean. For Americans since I live in America. But yeah, I think in general nationalism will rise globally.

My recommendation and what I am doing for my business, in a way, is having one brand with a supply chain based in the US and one brand with a supply chain based in China. The products are different and don't completely overlap, but they complement each other.

If you have the option of doing two brands, one produced in the US and one produced overseas, you can hit multiple factors, whether it is quality, different customer groups, customers who only buy Made-in-USA, etc. It's usually not a bad thing to have two of your own brands "competing" against each other as long as you have the funds/time to manage both brands.

In the end, you will be more insulated against market changes and your business could be more resilient to stuff you can't control (i.e. trade wars, suppliers going out of business, etc).

As an expert on safe product sourcing (see my AMA GOLD! Sharing my lifetime experience in export/import. Product sourcing specialist. ) I would never import from China any food product.

I can give you the name of a good supplier of genuine, natural gum base which is exactly the product used by GleeGum.

I won't post it here in case copiers are watching. Send me a PM if you would like the details.

I live in Italy and 70% of the stuff our construction company buys is made in Germany, we just gave up on everything else paying 3x/4x the price is JUSTIFIED when those things last 10x longer and are more practical to use.

We bought some Made in Italy accessories for our machines and we had to RE-INFORCE them all, like they would literally collapse while trying to do what they were supposed to do, when we made the calcs afterwards with the days we lost bringing them to the blacksmith etc.. we could've sucked it up and just spend 2x on German quality.
We complained with the company(we bought direct) and they literally just answered if those pieces break you can't return them, that was it AHAHHAHAHA.

Also idk what nation Makita is but that covers the remaining, when we can we ALWAYS buy MAKITA and have never been disappointed.
