I’ve realised something recently. I’ve built a reasonably popular website in my niche. I’m getting traffic of around 60k unique, genuine visitors a month (that I know of). This is all organic traffic from publishing “How to” articles and videos on the site.

My problem is that whilst the site is popular, I’m not converting visitors into sales. If only 1% of visitors bought my cheapest book, that would be £2k of income per month.

I’ve been looking for books (my preferred way of learning) on the subject of improving my website conversion. Having read quite a few samples, I’m struggling to find something that seems “genuine”. By that, I mean not written by a self-proclaimed website guru selling SEO services. I’m interested in advice for websites selling products that have faced a similar problem, and I want to avoid anything that’s a hard sell. My customer demographic is males aged 50+ and any hard sell will alienate them.

I know there is a lot of experience on this forum and would appreciate any recommendations for good books.

Thank you

Check out Graham Cochrane’s YouTube channel where he helps creators sell, and his main channel called The Recording Revolution where he’s walked the walk.

Also check out Laurel Portié’s organic and paid video marketing strategies.

PS: Remember it’s not the website that converts:

PPS: Happy to hop on a call sometime later this month (after various family holidays).

The problem with books is that, in this field, they are often outdated quickly.

Thank you for the suggestions and offer. I really appreciate the advice.

The "biggest landing page mistake" suggestion made me smile. I bookmarked this a while back to read and then promptly forgot about it. I'll add this to my investigation list for later.

Thanks for the suggestion of cxl.com as it's not one that I have seen before. I've added it to my list of things to review.

I agree with your point about books going out of date BUT what usually dates are tactics. Perhaps that's why I've been disappointed with the samples I've looked at. My belief is that human motivations and behaviour don't change very quickly. It's that level of buyer behaviour that I want to tap into if I can.

Thank you
