I've been wanting to upskill for awhile now. I am looking for something that will boost my income potential.
I've taken an interest in AI, among other things.
I asked the Brave browser's AI (Leo) what were skills and strategies that would explode my income in my local area but also online and it mentioned AI at the top of the list. I asked for resources and a learning path, and one of it's suggestions was an AI bootcamp.
It is being offered by a large prestigious university in the area (major city). It is 26 weeks and I would need to dedicate about 30 hours per week learning and applying. The bootcamp is structured, lots of AI tools and technologies will be used with about 20 projects that solve real world business/industry problems.
The tuition is $7000.
My reasoning is, I can learn all these skills and tools, build things, earn while I learn, and I have the benefit of mentors and advisors, along with peers that will reinforce the learning and give me some direction too.
The university and bootcamp work closely with major employers locally, state, and national. I am hearing that there is more demand for AI roles and solutions than there is qualified and knowledgeable people.
I am not planning to be an employee. As @MJ DeMarco said, there is nothing wrong with working a job if it is a stepping stone to your Fastlane.
So, my plan is to learn it, apply it, earn while I learn, and maybe use it to secure a job with a decent income and then I can work on a business on the side with these skills. Plus, I will get exposure to market pain points, insights, AI industry knowledge and so on.
I'd be dumping $7000 and 6 months of my time into this so I would want to make sure I get a good ROI for it.
Have some of you gone the bootcamp route and had some great results? Are they legit or a waste of time and money?
