Hey everyone,
A few months ago @MJ DeMarco dropped this idea in the “AI builds and flips” thread: give websites away for FREE, charge $59/mo for hosting and licensing, keep the license, and if the client wants to take the site elsewhere, they pay the build fee.
It stuck in my head and I want to do it.
Why I’m posting this
I took the Gallup test (I recommend it to anyone who wants to know their strongest talents and use them as an advantage). One of my top 5 Strengths is Responsibility. And I noticed something about myself: I feel much more responsible towards other people than towards myself. So I’m documenting this here to use that and help myself actually follow through.
Why I think this works
A free website is a great hook. It makes people curious and grabs attention. “Do you need a website?” gets ignored. “Free website” gets a click.
The math in Poland makes sense to me:
The long-term vision (not now)
I want to automate the backend with AI. The client sends an email, or writes or records a voice message on WhatsApp. The AI reads it and, in most cases, makes the change on the site. I just look at the result, approve the change and approve the reply to the client. Same with backups and updates.
But that’s for later, after the idea is validated.
The MVP
Goal for next Friday
Any help, tips or criticism is very welcome.
See you next Friday.

The math in Poland makes sense to me:
- Even at $50/mo, that’s $600 a year. That’s about what I’d charge for a normal one-time website here.
- So I get the same money in year one, and every month the client stays after that is pure profit.
- I keep the license, so the client can’t just take the site and leave without paying.

The MVP
- I’ll train Claude Code to build these sites and push them to GitHub.
- I buy the domain and hosting and deploy the sites.
- That’s basically the end of my work per client for now.
- A simple landing page plus a Facebook ad campaign to test interest.
Goal for next Friday
- Simple landing page built
- Facebook campaign launched, budget around $100-$150
- Update here with the results, good or bad
Any help, tips or criticism is very welcome.
See you next Friday.
