I'm curious what you guys have found to be the best way to consistently get freelance work, and specifically how to get started. I was thinking of trying to go local first. Do cold calls still work, or would I be better off putting my time and effort elsewhere?

The type of work I'm looking to do is Web Development, App Development, SEO optimization, and Graphics Design. I know there are clients out there. I've completed contracts in all of these fields in the past, but never built a brand around any of the work to get the ball rolling.

You can also try cold emailing businesses. It will take you an afternoon or two to learn how to do it properly, but I promise it will be worth it.

Just open a Google Sheet and go to where your ideal clients hang out. Tip: Try Facebook and LinkedIn groups, industry-specific forums, Angellist...

There's a guy on YouTube called Alex Berman who has this cold email thing covered well. Here's a great tutorial explaining how to go about this:

As for writing the actual cold email, I can help.

But I need you to watch the tutorial first and get about 20 potential clients lined up in your sheet. Then just PM me if you need any help.
