It seems nowadays that work and fun cannot match together. My question to you is : Do you have fun doing business? Are you enjoying what you are doing? Are you having a great time? Dumb question maybe, I don't know.

But for me one thing is sure; staring at a computer screen all day is everything but fun. How can we make the process the most enjoyable possible? I know there will always be roadblocks and failures, bad employees, etc, but do you think entrepreneurship should be fun? Or just the best way to get your freedom and ultimately happiness( or whatever that might be for you).

Also, what is the point of all that if you are not healthy and happy during the process? I've decided in the first place to fix my health as I have some pretty F*cking serious issues...I know that some folks on the forum may be very disapointed with me but only god knows what hell I went through. I went to the hospital 17 times in the last 4 years. I've counted them.

Can it be fun? Sure.

Should you base your ventures on this fact? No.

I remember MJ had a quote along the lines of "Live like no one else will, so you can live like no one else can."

I.e, sacrifice and pay your dues now so you can be set for life after.

Health over everything. What is the point of wealth if you cannot enjoy it due to preventable illnesses.

Make sure you allocate some free time to make sure you keep yourself healthy.

I don't know what your specific condition is, but the gym is almost always a good place to start. Plus, exercise can increase productivity if you are more mentally focused.

Make sure you take care of yourself, just like you take care of your business.

Hell yeah it can be. You can't imagine how fantastic my life is everyday.
I'm a very happy person, I do things I'm confident with, I challenge myself everyday and I don't want any other life.

Health? I do have issues and this is why I cook great food, consume enough micronutrients, have zero bad stress, take contrast shower and workout on daily basis. Otherwise I would be dead before you know I've even existed.

I'm hoping you're able to turn your health around. I can't imagine all those hospital visits. Regarding happiness, even when I'm working my butt off, I've got to have a bit of happy... Have you determined what would/could make you happy? Changes you might need to make? That's where I'd start. Best to you.

You need an outlet, something where you can temporarily take your mind off the screen. I personally go to the gym and socialize while I workout.

I would love to comment more but I personally don't feel I should be giving out such advice when I don't or ever had this type of problem.

I think this depends on your definition of "fun".

You might feel passionate, engaged, challenged, fulfilled, satisfied, victorious and very much alive with business.

Do these necessarily mean the same thing as "fun"?

It all depends on the definition.

Cheers,

D

I'm 35 years old. The last time I was employed, I was 23.

Yes, I have fun. Some stuff can be tough. Sometimes it's not fun. But the vast majority of the time, my life is a blast. I can go wherever I want and do whatever I want, whenever I want. That's irreplaceable, no one can put a price on it.

I can see, and others can see in me, that I am overall happier than most people.

Will it be hard? Yes. Will you be satisfied? Yes.

If you wait to have fun after you become successful in business it is like waiting to have sex in your old age - Warren Buffet

If business stops being fun you have to ask why, if you can't fix it you have to move on - Richard Branson

Happiness is the baseline, business is the bonus - Me :)

"Is business fun?"

Having the freedom to oursource the stuff you don't like doing, so you can focus more and more on the stuff you DO like doing? It's great fun. ;)

My business involves very little computer work. It is absolutely fun, challenging, and mentally stimulating.

Better question: Is having a job fun? No! Hell no!

Fun at work was had in fleeting moments, and RARELY when any actual work was getting done. I'll take working for myself any time over having to sit at an office all day working for someone else, or even worse, clocking in to work some hourly job somewhere. (Nothing wrong with those ways of earning a living. Just talking about fun here ;) )

Business can be fun, a lot like chewing glass but you feel satisfied when it stops hurting and you realise how far you've come.

I laughed out loud at this, simply because I can actually relate. When I'm doing something that's way outside my comfort zone, this is EXACTLY how I feel. But you are right, it's awesome to look back and feel proud about what I was able to do.

Do you have fun doing business? Are you enjoying what you are doing? Are you having a great time?

If you are doing something that fills a need and also jives with your personality and skillset (this is a moveable goalpost, so nothing to stress about), there will be lots of fun moments.

I hope you can get healthy soon, and figure out a way to be happy in a business :)

But for me one thing is sure; staring at a computer screen all day is everything but fun.

You shouldn't be spending all day on the computer.

Install "Timing app" if you have a mac, to see where all that time is really going. I wouldn't be surprised if you spend 4+ hours a day on the computer, and a big part of that is forums, youtube, porn or news.

The internet can be a big distraction from getting actual work done. Try not touching the PC for a few hours and see what happens.

Do you pull out the pen and paper, or go and talk to friends? Or do you become bored and unsure what to do, unless you are back on the keyboard?

Edit:

Someone mentioned that autonomy is the biggest contributor to happiness at work, and i believe this. https://www.kent.ac.uk/careers/Choosing/career-satisfaction.htm

If you wake up everyday and spend 10 hours on the internet, on the same sites most of the time. It will probably get boring pretty fast.

You have a choice over what you want to spend your time on, so the only excuse for boredom (other than brief periods, like we all face) is yourself really.

Ofcourse, it doesn't work for everybody. Many people would rather have a boss be telling them what needs to be done, by when.
