I think that was around the same time I became a teenager lol, can't believe it was actually "cool" to not believe in yourself

Although I'm still not very mature, I do believe you're right about protecting the kids, protect them now and make them believe in the power of hard work now rather than have those poor souls spend years and years de-programming the negative nonsense when they're older

We spend the first year of their lives teaching them to walk and talk. Then the rest of the time telling them to shut up and sit down.

we can add that :


1) a man takes responsibility and stand against the tyranny of the dumb crowd ( fashion, "democracy" choices , false beliefs etc etc)

very few men are alive in this case

very few. 10 %

2) boys follow whatever society tell them : 90 %

there are no real heroes anymore in our society

men who are able to say : "that's enough, we live in a mess, i won't let society rule my life anymore."


i have something like 2000 books in my library ( real books, not stupids books like romance novels ).

i have been studying people in power for years now

so i don't really care what boys here will think of that .

i won't even respond.

love this concept. In my better parenting moments, when my kids are acting up, I notice that they act up when I'm not giving them enough attention. When I've filled up their 'love bucket' they get along pretty well, a lot of the time. When I don't, things heat up pretty quickly.

Now, to figure out how to remind myself of that when I'm not in a good parenting moment...

It's hard alright!

I try to remember:

• "Catch them when they're good."
• "Criticise in private, praise in public."
• Don't get stressed. Push the stress back onto them!

I need to do more of the catching them when they're good thing. I do that on occasion, but could do more.

On criticising them in private - do you mean taking them aside, privately, even in the family?

Gosh. I completely missed this.

Yes, who likes to be told off or criticised in front of people? Take them aside and have a quiet word and they’ll appreciate it being done privately. And they’re waaay more likely to listen too because they’re not trying to look cool or unbothered in front of a crowd.


But praise in public and they’ll puff up in pride. Make a big deal of it.

Today is our wedding anniversary but I’m away at a funeral. The kids all crept into my wife’s bedroom this morning with my card and presents (I made sure to get three presents so they each had one to give).

I’ve FaceTimed and spoke to each individually to say thank you and let them know how proud of them I am.

When I get home tomorrow I’ll make sure we call them into the living room to stand in front of me and my wife sat on the sofa. I’ll thank each in turn in front of their mum and brothers and give them a hug.
