Personally, I would join sth like this once but it is too far away. The prices are very high imo. MJ, could you think of adding a (much cheaper) web access for viewing the presentations? This could cross finance the high tickets or even give opportunity to sponsor 2 or 3 live tickets for the young and poor apprentices in this forum.

Yeah!: pollice su:
I'm Italian and it's really difficult for me to cross the world to be present at the event

Here's my proposal (for real):

"Finding Personal Fulfillment in Life and Business"

The presentation will be in a narrative form and cover my journey over 8 years from:
  • Disillusioned music teacher with no clear purpose anymore
  • My many failed business attempts (chasing money)
  • Building an ecommerce business to an exit in 2.5 years... and finding that success leaving me feeling hollow and empty inside.
  • Starting and growing my current business, which aligns my purpose with providing value to the world... and how, despite the much longer and rockier road, it's fulfilling at a deep level.
  • Beyond... My vision for the future, and how I hope to use this business to impact society over the next decade and beyond.

This would be a good presentation for those:
  • who are just getting started in business, and not yet thinking "long term" or "big picture".
  • who have had success and are wondering if there's something more than 4 hour work weeks and "passive income".
  • who want to leave a mark on the world
I would love to hear this @MJ DeMarco

For similar events I've been to, we've done "breakout sessions", where people choose which of the 3 sessions they want to attend at that time.

@MJ DeMarco I second this suggestion. I recently went to a food industry conference. One session was a room with 10 tables. Each table had an expert on a particular subject: Regulations, Investment, Plant Base Protein, Merchandising, etc. People went to the table that was most relevant to them and there was an hour allocated for round table discussion. This session honestly made the entire trip worth it.

Obviously, the "expert" that heads each table will have to be responsible for their own moderation. But this allows a better dialogue. Instead of speaking on one subject, people who are interested in the subject get to ask relevant questions.

As many of you know, last year's official Fastlane Summit was canceled. My reasoning was outlined here in this thread. Fast forward one year and I'm happy to report that forum usage (users) are up 57% since then, and regular user sessions up 27%.

At these metrics I believe the forum can support a Summit this year provided the following...

A) We get an ample selection of volunteer speakers who want to speak on a great topic

AND

B) We get a reasonable level of interest here at the forum.

Here are the details of the proposed event:
  • Dates: February 7th and 8th (Fri/Sat) 8am -5:30pm (The next weekend is Valentines Day)
  • Held at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale Arizona (Room rates for this event will be $239/night.)
  • Hope to feature 12 speakers at 30 to 45m per speaker, perhaps some panel discussions or breakouts per topic.
  • If you are selected to speak, you are guaranteed a ticket and guaranteed to get it at a discount (discount yet to be determined but minimally it will be 25% off, perhaps 50% or more - depends on my final contract costs with the casino)
  • Max attendees: Shooting for 80 - 120 (might be able to do plenty more if demand warrants)
  • Ticket price: Should range in between $349 and $549 dependent on hotel costs (which I'm ironing out now).
  • Included: Food items items are yet to be determined, but minimally would include lunch, all day coffee, and maybe a dinner or two.
  • In the past tickets were offered to INSIDERS first, then regular forum users. (In the past this event sells out in hours). INSIDERS might get a discount, or first dibs on tickets, still undetermined.

So with this said, if you are interested in SPEAKING, please post here and included a synopsis of your talk and the value it might provide to a group of entrepreneurs! Expect to speak 30-45 minutes!

If you are interested in ATTENDING given the date, time, and cost details, let me know as well here in this thread so I can gauge interest. Typically if 100 people have an interest, 50 will attend. If you attended a past Summit, note that as well as that means you will likely mean a YES when you say YES! I will likely create a pre-order form with a required deposit to turn passive interest into real interest.

Anyone interested in this topic:

The #1 skill to 10X your sales

If so, give me thumbs up.

I can go all the way from Germany to make a talk on this topic.

I went from broke to 10K per month with this skill.

Let's see if I can "affect" enough people :)

If there is still a need for speakers, I'd throw my hat in too.
Really was considering just kicking back and listening to others at this one as I've had an opportunity to share twice, but you know, if MJ decides to allow me another round I would be glad to share.

I'd speak on:

"Creating a VISION, for your team, your business and your customers"

Painting that vision of who and what we are, albeit in ecommerce, B&M, product creation, or sales, can often times define whether we win or lose in creating and developing a growing and successful business.

"Without a VISION, the people perish"

Thank you and to the others who have submitted privately by email.

You guys are gonna make this terribly hard to make decisions.

I'll definitely consider it pending cost implications (might need more rooms?) and volunteers.

I've never participated in a "Break-Out" so so each break-out would have to have a leader that knows what they're doing.

And, unless I missed something, where is @B. Cole ? Product creation, struggles, invention to market?

Haha I’d love to speak, but would be premature for this one. I’d hardly feel qualified to send a bunch of folks out on the path of development that I took, but am happy to share my unqualified advice otherwise. Still way too much a student, don’t want to guru it up.

Every red cent and second of time goes toward getting this thing optimized and profitable by spring, so unfortunately, but hopefully - this will be the last Summit that I miss.

Oh no, I smell Vigilante lurking... ^^

Ok, but was rooting for your appearance even if it was in the halls during break or at the bar. Keep us posted.

The breakout sessions are an excellent idea. The best conference I ever went to had several rooms allocated so that each “class” had its own space. You could only pick four a day and it was TOUGH to pick.

If you can’t do that it would be great to have a panel of five or six people to spend 45 min answering questions that are submitted by ticket holders prior to the event and then approved by the panel (no surprise questions) so they can share their wisdom.

Will the speakers be following any type of structured plan for sharing ?

Their story
Mindset shifts they had to make
Practical obstacles they overcame
Their CENTS or general weaknesses
Their CENTS or general strengths
Principles that they follow religiously
Actionable steps someone could do to follow in their footsteps

I have no idea what to expect so those may be horrible ideas. I just distinctly remember attending an expensive course only to have one lecturer go off on an epic tangent for THREE hours at a conference I attended and wishing that I could escape... only to have it happen again the very next day.

I sincerely doubt anything like that will happen and I’m sure there are some ppl whom I would adore listening to on anything they discussed.... but we don’t have that much time.

Also. Is there anything we can help with? Set up, take down, paper pushing, room signage, name tag sticker stuff...??

I’m used to hundreds of women doing this.. not guys. Do you all bring candy for each other and stay up until 2am discussing stuff? Lol. I once made gluten free chocolate brownies for 127 people..

I'm in. I'd also be willing to speak on a number of different subjects such as Act 20 & 22, scaling an agency, building and firing teams, the hustle house experience, or how to learn basic salsa as a gringo with two left feet.

The "behind the scenes" updates are exciting. Lots of great momentum happening. This event, when formalized and confirmed, has the makings of being epic. Best ever? That's up to the attendees. Watch for some announcements forthcoming from MJ. Stay tuned. You won't want to miss this.

I've set up and coordinated international research conferences in a pinch, so I volunteer to do whatever. Pre-planning, coordinating the other volunteers, finalizing plans, nudging the process along, registration, tracking payment, negotiating accommodations, fees, and food (will haggle for $202/night), generating content for welcome packet, list of attendees and practical info/directions, ID the useful resort contacts, organize events, conference schedule, inventory speaker materials, pick up at Office Max, order technology, organize on-site volunteers, liaison with tech and venue, buy bags of buttermints and bottled water on short notice.

Oh, and guess what. I'm a woman.

The craziest thing I ever did for event running was jump in as BBQ pitmaster and cook tent leader at my best friend's birthday party for 200 outdoors near St. George, Utah. The food showed up but with no catering staff whatsoever. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones flew in (private airstrip on site) and played and danced and ate and played from seven to dawn. That was fun. I had everybody break down and trample some hay bales for a dance floor because the desert floor was no good. Yeah that was fun.

You're wrong, get your a$$ there!

And do something in the next 5 months worth telling us about.

I second this...

My Phone: Text back with 'Y' to confirm with a YES. Additional data charges may apply.
Me: Y.. Y.. YYYYYYY... YYYYYYYY.. Y

I've never participated in a "Break-Out" so so each break-out would have to have a leader that knows what they're doing.

I Volunteer As Tribute, maybe one around SaaS. I can already see it being quite a popular one (to learn to code or not, outsourcing, getting MVP, traction,..).

You don't have anything to worry about. Every speaker blows me away every time.

Speakers speak about whatever topic they choose in whatever format they wish.

One of the best ones I remember was about sleep and bio-hacking.

I once made gluten free chocolate brownies for 127 people..

Bring the brownies!

I've never participated in a "Break-Out" so so each break-out would have to have a leader that knows what they're doing.
You can do table-to-table break-out sessions in the large foyer in the hall in front of the meeting rooms at no extra charge. Just sequester the area from onlookers with the welcome signage and other postings. This is a great place to sell books and merch as well.
With 200 participants, having 20 volunteers who can be "available" for 2-3 hours in shorter blocks of time throughout the event is ample support.
Twenty volunteers giving two to four hours pre-event is ample manpower for coordination and execution.

I relate to there being three categories of activity in which a person can block in the time to produce value in their life:
1. Work
2. Relationships
3. Self and self-development.
The volunteer involvement belongs to 2. and 3.

I am genuinely happy for @MJ DeMarco and the forum.

Last year when MJ created the thread for 2019 Summit, the engagement was very low.

This year, the enthusiasm shown on this thread is just amazing.

Also, what happened to @jon.a ? Miss his one liners!

We’ve told him every year when it sells out to raise the price and he won’t.

MJ should do add-one. “Meet and greet with Vigilante: $79.99”
