Still trying to decide to go this year. I love the event, but last year cost nearly 2k in total for Jen and me. We also just got our next house under contract that needs pretty decent rehab. I will need to prioritize and see where the b&p fits in this year.

Road trip? That's what we did one year, to save on airfare.

Wound up taking it as a vacay, spent some time in Sedona (it was real purty) :tiphat:

Hey Bilge, I'm from Fort Collins - we can even share the gass :smx1:

Only problem for me is that I planned on travelling in south america Nov - Feb and make it to the B&P on the way back.

Yesterday I found out the the carnival in Brazil starts a couple of weeks later this year (March 5'th - 8'th) so I"l have to see if it still works out =)

I'm planning on coming, but I'm still waiting to see if my son and our spouses are going to join us. Too early for them to get commitments for time off.

My doctor has ordered me to lose 30 pounds, so with luck, I'll be tough to recognize by February.

Probably not.

Unless your doctor orders you to follow a diet that strictly forbids bad jokes, I think we'll still know who you are no matter what you look like ;)

Yee-ow!

I once lost close to 100 pounds in a year (true story). Also shaved my beard and stopped wearing glasses.

When I went to our annual conference, there was a guy at the bar who used to follow me around (I do not kid)-- he was kind of a groupie. I hated it.

He totally didn't recognize me-- I ordered a drink at the bar (Grand Marnier), and he looked over at me and said sarcastically, "(snort) Boy, there's a *man's* drink . . "

I said nothing-- didn't want him to recognize my voice.

This was a guy who would call me and literally keep me on the phone for hours. I once bumped into him at a Circuit City, and still have the memory of him running after me as I pulled my car out of the parking lot-- STILL TALKING!! (I had been there for over an hour, trying to be nice, trying to away from him).

Having him stand right next to me and not recognize me was delicious.

Stupendously, marvelously, delicious.

If I did that, all that would be left is an a**hole ;-)

That one was for you, Jon.:rofl::rofl:

Same issues here... not sure if wife, brother, friends, or who else is coming. I'm thinking of just buying two tickets for now and let the others decide later if they want to make it.

About the 30 pounds, well, it is only 20 for me, and I already lost 8, so I should be there by the time the meetup happens.

Where there's a will, there's a way... How bad do you want it?

I believe there is a transatlantic flight involved, Red (if this is Henk).

Henk came to one of our first get togethers-- I think he holds the record for farthest away, unless the gentleman from Africa came (can't remember . . . must be getting old . . .)

Definitely there was a guy from South Africa at the first one... can't remember his name now.

Bingo. I remember that too. Maybe Erin will recall?

+++++++++++++++

Erin did recall! I just didn't ask her. I went back to the RD forum and hunted.

And the winner is... leonvdwalt

His journey...

Hi there everyone

My flight time was around 18 hours and with airports and stopovers and a break-in at my house, I only got to adding everyone a moment a go.

Not to worry, I' m fine and there should be no embarrasing, ego-busting pictures on there (yet) :)

Just saw 2 multi-family properties (4-plex and an 8-plex) in the paper that I' ll investigate further.

Thanks for the carting around on Monday Derek, it was great!

Regards
Leon

I stand by my statement ;)

The biggest obstacles create the best success stories, no?

Henk, you can pull this off, it's not til Feb -damn near four full months. I'm almost tempted to bet something crazy like shaving my head of you made it here, but I wouldn't shave my head. Maybe one of my cats? Which one of the fourteen will it be? Stay tuned....

Since you're based in Phoenix, you could offer to walk to the event if he makes it.

I'm guessing your walk would *still* be less time than a one-way flight from Holland! (less than 20 hours @ 3 mph = 60 miles range for you).

My wife is telling me to remind you to wear sensible shoes. :smxB:

I could walk to the event -and yes, it would take less than 20 hours, as I believe I live within 5 miles of the Firesky (was that it?) Resort... (not enough of a challenge to make the bet interesting)

That Walk a Mile In Her Shoes site is pretty cool, Russ :)

Ah, you can always make it interesting.

For instance: Put ALL (not some-- ALL) of your shoes in a large wagon (however big it needs to be), and pull the sucker with you for those 5 miles. An interesting twist on "walking a mile in her shoes". :smxB:

I wouldn't make it. Although I have winnowed down the collection -at one time, I had in excess of 200 pairs...

Holy crap!

We're going to have to change your user name from Red to Millipede!

Good thing you don't have basements out there, or your shoe closet would have collapsed into it.
