Hey fellow millionaires!! (Lol I’m not a millionaire, far from it for now)

So I have an idea, the idea is to have a membership site so that people can buy Supreme (the clothing brand) products for retail instead of paying resell prices.

The problem is, I don’t know where to start. Help is GREATLY appreciated :D

You are going to build a website totally based on another business? No Control, Strike 1.

In order to profit you have to buy from supreme directly or if you are doing marketplace method then you attract people that buy Supreme for them to sell and collect commission?

Are you trying to be a StockX?

I don’t think this will work, because their largest value skew is status. There is no price limit for status. Supreme will never be at regular price, it will destroy the brand.

Doesn’t Supreme produce in limited quantity also? So what happens if you have 1000 members and Supreme produces 100 units. 900 members are not receiving value and will unsubscribe.

People want to buy Supreme for retail, but they can’t because it sells out to quick or for some other reason.

That’s where we come in. For a monthly membership fee, people can buy Supreme from us at retail price.

Yes, that would mean my team would have to buy from Supreme directly and sell it to the site.

So our income would come from the membership fee. The targeted audience would be resellers, not just Supreme buyers. Because that would mean they’d come to us frequently.

How would you guarantee an item for each member with limited quantity?

You can try, but in my opinion this business model goes against Supreme’s largest value skew. High price is part of a high status item.

Another example of preserving status

Plus, you can't just call up a company and tell them you want to buy their line. You have to get approved and they must know how and where you are selling it.

So basically just stick to reselling?

Hope this isn't too blunt, but this sounds like you'll be buying directly from Surpeme and selling a membership to resellers - essentially being a middleman for a middleman.

That would be step 1. Instead of asking US, he should be contacting Supreme and getting a deal set up. Then he can go and hire a cute Shopify designer that would build his website, get a nice domain name, install a subscription plugin (which will definitely eat a part of his revenue, depending on the membership price he planned).

Considering reputation is a big thing in your particular situation (selling point). You'd also need the authorization to use Supreme's logos so you can start marketing your upcoming platform ASAP, once the deal is signed. This way, once your website is finally up, you'd already have thousands of followers on social medias.

How's my plan ?

If it makes sense to you, go on and DO IT !

You don't need us to act.

Maybe it has changed now, but back when I worked with a few companies to get name brands you either had to have a brick and mortar or be well known online.... WELL known online. And if things have changed, my guess is, the site would already need to be up and running. They don't go on..... I'm gonna's. They probably have hundreds of people asking to sell their product every day.

I'm with you on that. I'm pretty sure it hasn't changed. This person won't ever get any results if he never starts doing anything though (he won't become well known in this niche overnight). :smile2:

Let me reword my previous post for the OP:

Plan is this.

Make a membership website where customers pay monthly.

Supreme restocks every Thursday @ 11AM, we buy whatever they sell, then we post it every Friday @ 11AM for retail.

Planning to have packages. Maybe one package would be just Supreme for retail, the other package would then be Supreme + we proxy for you (we buy what you want us to buy for you), then the most “luxurious” package would be other brands other than Supreme + package 1 & 2.

Are you buying at wholesale prices or retail and then marking them up more?

Nobody can buy Supreme for retail. Our profit comes from the customers’ membership fee, we get our money back anyway because whatever we pay for (for the item), they pay back. You feel? Lol

No nothing yet, just a plan. Came up with the idea yesterday
How are you going to get people to pay you a subscription without guaranteeing that you can get the product?
I don't know the brand (maybe I'm too unfashionable), but it sounds like the whole problem is that people can't get the items in the first place. Why do you think you're going to be able to if the end customer can't do it themselves? I'm missing some pieces of the puzzle here.

The idea with Supreme drops is that they’re all limited. So if they drop a really hype item, it tends to sell out quick.

My idea’s set up! Thank you all SO MUCH for all your responses, it really helped me structure my idea.

Much appreciated!

Okay, how will you be able to buy it quicker than someone else who wants the item?

What value does your plan offer to people who can't buy it from you either? It doesn't seem like a very good deal if it's really iffy for any kind of customer to get the stuff in the first place and then really iffy for your membership customers to actually buy it from you. You are essentially inserting yourself as yet another barrier between them and their retail customers.

Have multiple people work with me. Have online people buy, have people buy in store, things like that.
Okay lets do a scenario.

"I'm one of your paying customers. I just bought a monthly subscription because I've been looking to purchase an item from Supreme but don't want to pay the crazy resale prices.

Today is Saturday and I decide to log on to your site because I heard about a new product they started selling earlier in the week which now out of stock on their site. I go to your website to make my purchase, excited that my subscription is now going to pay off, but there's a problem. You don't have it in stock because it was already purchased by other people on your site.

Now, I consider cancelling my membership to the service since there is not enough in stock. What's the point of paying a monthly membership fee if I can't purchase what I want?"

How will you handle this situation?

Way to be able to take criticism. Have fun fighting for overpriced clothing with a hoard of 14 year old “entrepreneurs” trying to do the same thing.

People who can’t take any sort of criticism don’t seem to make it very far as entrepreneurs.
