I am starting a blog.
Its about something I know a lot of about.
And I think there is interest about.
Its about tuning bikes.
Now its no problem to tell and make tutorials about it.
But how should I monitize that?
Selling tutorials : i fear, that sold tutorials will soon be free on YouTube.
Selling parts: may be good, but for dropship and affiliate i fear there are no partners.
Building a racing team and than selling shit with logo...?
Amazon links, which have nothing to do with the theme?
Asking for support from the fans?
Free tutorials per email? Than selling any shit?

By writing, making tutorials should I focus on seo from beginning?

I am not saying this is one but there are some things that just won't make money. If you want to know what I'd do, send me a message.

Is the name of a blog very important?
Maybe it could be turned into a brand name, if success.

I'm by no means an expert but I've tried to go the blog route before... I feel the blog sort of compliments the brand, but it shouldn't be your starting point.

Like MJ says solve a problem. What are pain points in the biker community? Do bikers really tune up their bikes a lot? Can you offer some subscription where you offer X accessory with instructions or some sort of that? Yes free tutorials will always be on YouTube but people do pay for a well laid and designed online course too. How about short tutorials on Insta or wherever most of your audience hangs out and then offer the materials to complete what you just showed, in a website? Like say a video of you putting some cool type of accessory on, then you proceed to send them to your online shop to buy the "install X accessory" package.

Build connections and trust. That's the hard part.

Figuring out a monetization strategy is the easier one. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Always be shipping!

I'd make the blog and not worry about how it's going to make money, rather look for a need for the community you're serving and then your blog will become a part of the brand that serves the solution to that need.

Meh to starting a blog.

Go find forums and Facebook groups where bikers hang out and where you can help them with your advice.

Then ... help them with your advice.

Figure out the rest as you go along.

Listen to “Who have you helped?” in my signature. Let me know your thoughts after listening to it.

If you start a blog with the mindset that you are trying to sell something from the get-go, you're probably using the wrong platform. People read blogs for information and for entertainment. You won't have repeat readers if each post is obviously trying to sell something.

For a while, just focus on writing. Provide valuable content (in way of information, entertainment, etc.). Connect with your readers and engage with other bloggers. For a while, you probably won't see any return, but you'll be establishing relationships, which is what will get you repeat and new viewers, and will hopefully (if your content and writing is good) allow you to start selling products or partnering with brands who want to sponsor you.

All blogs are usually trying to sell you on coming back and reading more articles.

If your really selling nothing, bettet to use a platform that makes it impossible to follow or find out whom you are. Perhaps one that wipes your work after a short while.

Seems that you need to go at it with the attitude that you might never make more than $1000 from it.
I would probably go for youtube videos as traffic source, making tons of videos with blog posts.

Maybe you can do consultations/bike builds as well...
Are there any big guys dominating their market you can learn from?

Yes man, I’ve done that for the last 20 years.
After doing that a long time, you just end in answering all the beginners questions and want to concentrate on specialized areas. Thats what i want do do with a blog. And maybe on the long run take some money out of that.
But! Though a man told me someday: if you’ll make a blog someday, than sell anything there!

Edith.
Maybe I must say a word about my drive to do that.
I dream about an own homepage to tell about things I know since I recogniced the internet about a bit less than 30 years.
Now i have the possibility to do that. I have the money to do it without fearing bankruptcy.
And tha t blog now maybe is that dream.
And now As I plan it, I want to do it rights. Everything!
Therefor the questions.
Thanks

Great you're already engaging folks and answering questions. When you find yourself repeating yourself over and over then it's time to create articles that you then point people to in the future. You know those articles are battle tested and help people.

That's how I've ended up creating so many threads in this forum. See this thread linking to lots of other threads:
After a while people started asking me for a course, so I created one and it's sold a bunch.

There's tutorials on YouTube, but people buy courses on Udemy and other sites. Why is that?

Selling parts: may be good, but for dropship and affiliate i fear there are no partners.
Have you found this out?

Amazon links, which have nothing to do with the theme?
I'd recommend linking to things that are to do with the theme.

Free tutorials per email? Than selling any shit?
People do that... give value away for free and then link to products they've reviewed or that can help the reader.

I haven't watched this but I suspect the description will have affiliate links:

I'd say it's good to create tutorials that people are searching for, and to write for your human visitors rather than bots.
