Google says there are 98 million results for:
"How to make a decision and stick with it."
Do you know how to do this? Is it not difference between success and failure?
I won't belabor the importance of following through with a decision, I think we all instinctively know.
But, how is it done?
I'll admit I don't have a definitive answer.... and I am not that great at this. Still trying to improve.
But I do have a story .... that taught me a little about it.
It all starts with this picture.

Yes I was driving that truck, and yes I walked away alive.
"Actually almost without a scratch."
Driving truck was always my backup, my "waiting tables" when business wasn't doing well.
One day I was driving an unfamiliar road, a curve snuck up on me and I rolled the above truck loaded with 85,000 lbs of dirt and metal right on it's top.
I can still feel the nightmare as she went over........
The ONLY spot big enough for my body was where I lay wedged in between the 2 seats.
I was tight but managed to squirm out through the back window,I walk a few feet away.
And then looked back on what should have been certain death.
Everyone that approached the scene, while I waited 3 hours for my boss to get there, would sort of look about for a dead body. It was creepy much like attending my own funeral.
Onward.
One of the officers borrowed me a cell phone, mine was gone, I phoned my wife and kids.
Make no mistake when you look death in it's face it brings about REAL clarity.
And in that moment, I decided, I would never again craw into an 18 wheeler again! EVER!
Was my decision logical?
It doesn't matter. What matters is, I made an irrevocable decision in an instant, in that moment.
I will never again drive truck, and risk leaving my wife a widow, and my kid with out a dad. Ever, period.
Now let me assure you that is a decision. It is final. It is not up for negotiating. It never will be.
"And believe it or not, my wife feels the same, way." She now gladly puts up with a lot less while I build a company. With that vivid image in her mind everything changed.
Here is the question.....
How can I, how can you, get to this level of commitment in our most important decisions, without Going to the brink of death?
To stick it out, when the going gets tuff, like it always does in starting a business.
But this one thing I do know, that, I absolutely do know, when I have reached a real decision. It's freeing, it energizing, it produces action.
It's the getting there, to the commitment that is, that is usually the tough part.
