I have an unpopular opinion about this guy. I do not like him. He has some good "tips" in his videos but he is way too focused on marketing on my perspective, and not a productocracy. Also what really stroke to me as odd, is that in his YouTube channel landing page he states "I have nothing to sell you" and then links to an Amazon page that sells his kindle book for 0.87$ (the magic number 7 again). Am I the only one?

He is actually all about a productocracy. He talks about the only way to not cap your business is to have word of mouth doing the work for you and that requires a great product.

His book is sold at cost / whatever the lowest you can put it on amazon for.

He even admits he wants to make money, but he believes that giving away his knowledge will allow him to scale and grow even bigger with compounding good will.

Is this like, coffee time with the girls or something?

My opinion, since you asked, is - instead of polluting the forum with gossip like this, why not just take those "good tips" you've learned from him, apply them, and avoid doing what you think he's doing wrong—or odd.

He literally built his wealth on productocracy.

Marketing is the difference between some dork making an introductory post saying

“Hey guys I’m selling shoes what do you think a good way to make money online selling shoes would be?”

Or being NIKE.

That’s the importance of marketing.

If I remember correctly, Alex built Gym Launch to where it is to day by focusing on solving all the problems someone could ever have on the journey to the dream outcome (e.g. looking fit). And teaches how to make these "100M" offers in his book. Sounds like a productocracy to me?

Based on the content I've seen from/out of him, all he does is add good shit into the world. Hard to be angry at someone that's both successful and (from what I can tell) transparent.

He is actually all about a productocracy. He talks about the only way to not cap your business is to have word of mouth doing the work for you and that requires a great product.
Does it? What about Dr. John Brinkley who marketed goat testicle replacement surgery? His business blew up through word of mouth.

Tell me… if you put 20 sick kids in a room, and bring a doctor and a quack to them, who do you think will be more successful? Will the children who are not experts and don’t know anything about medicine choose the bitter pill that will cure them, or will they choose the pleasant sugar pill that tastes nice but does nothing? When one isn’t restricted by doing what is right, they can do what is pleasant and will be more successful as a result in business.

Or have a look at Facebook. Has Facebook given us value, or have they made us more handicapped, weaker and more addicted than ever before? Is it really “goodness” that wins out in a world filled with so many who are not good? Is it really wisdom that wins out in a world filled with those who are not wise? To think so, in my opinion, is simply an act of self-deception.

We live in a world where children with money (meaning not experts) make decisions about what is right and wrong based on whether things are pleasant or unpleasant since they just don’t know any better… how can you expect what is good and right to win out consistently in this case?

I've never seen anyone criticize someone doing less than them.

Are you just being contrarian to be contrarian or do you have an actual problem with the man?
Please read my post. Thank you!

Have you ever taken a locus of control test?

It seems like you are kind of blaming Alex Hormozi for your problems and defending your actions to people who question you.

Perhaps he has something for you to buy, but that doesn't mean he's selling it to you.

I'm usually the first person to jump on a hypocrite for being a hypocrite, but from one contrarian to another, you're really out there on your own in this one.

But you know this. You started the post saying your opinion is unpopular.

Now that we've all responded, has anything changed for you? I really don't understand the point of this thread...

Actually it has changed. Instead of pointing out solid arguments most people are resulting to attacking me personally. It seems like people can no more agree to disagree. It is a bid sad to be honest.

Ask yourself who the common denominator is… Your character isn’t unrelated to the discussion at hand as much as you want to make it irrelevant with your claims of ad hominem.

Until this thread I had not consumed one moment of Alex Hormozi content. I was only familiar with the name. Figured he was just the overrated guru of the month.

Because of you and your attitude, I took a look at his book, it sounds like I might like it so I purchased and intend to read it next. This attempt at (whatever this was an attempt at) totally backfired.

Did you join this forum to reframe your mindset or to be able to "agree to disagree"? You can't suck and blow at the same time. Either you genuinely wanted to learn opinions of entrepreneurs on AH and expected to:
  1. Convince them you were right
  2. Be convinced you were wrong
I know you are starting out. Take my comment for what it is, it's coming from my heart with sincere desire to help you become a better version of yourself. Grow thick skin. The better you do, the more you'll need a solid foundation, a strong and unshakable core.

No one can make you feel offended without your consent.

Me myself, I am trying to reframe my mindset, and this is one of the reasons that I joined this forum.

That's great advice! I feel that's what most people at this forum try to do. Sometimes the feedback and comments can be tough to read but most people here say the things they say with a genuine desire to help one another grow and become better people, entrepreneurs, investors, etc.

I’m creating a new logical fallacy. I’m going to call it “Mr. Logical Fallacy” or MLF for short. A MLF avidly googles lists of logical fallacies to try to apply them to internet arguments they “by no fault of their own” enter. They do this in order sound or appear intelligent, which frequently backfires.

This thread is hilarious. I am picturing my 2 year old son running around the house pointing his finger and sticking his tongue out going "nah na nah na" at everything he thinks is funny.

"daddy got poo poo, nah na nah na"
"car crashed in wall, nah na nah na"
"book fall down, nah na nah na"
