Derek Sivers' latest blog article just came through my feed and it really hit home to me given my lack of confidence with starting a SaaS business as I talked about here.

Basically he describes starting as small as possible just helping one person with one small problem.
Then you can gradually help other people with the same problem thus proving that there is a business need.
Over time you will be able to help more and more people with more and more problems and that is one way (a pretty appealing one at that) of starting a profitable business.
