I have around five to seven hours of free time per week, that I want to use to learn a new skill.

I want that skill to be kind of a metaskill, a skill that is kind of universally applicable and one that will benefit me in many areas of life.

Which skill would you learn and why? How would you approach the learning process?

Thanks.

Copywriting. Which is just another way of saying "sales and persuasion," as @Fox already said. Not necessarily to become a copywriter, but it teaches you to start thinking from the perspective of your customer and their needs/painpoints/desires, etc. This will help you in all aspects of your business.

@Lex DeVille has some great threads on getting going in copywriting.

Outside of business, I would say the skill of just "talking to people".

So many of us live isolated lives now and its a dying skill. The person who can just connect with folk as they live their everyday life is going to be a rare person very soon!

That's so true. It's kind of sad, when you think about it.

What's the next step you need to take to grow your business?

Find the skill you need to solve that and learn that skill.

Copywriting, sales, persuasion, and social skills are all great and useful. But you need to focus on the one thing that will help you in your current situation. That may be copywriting, sales, persuasion, or social skills. But it also may be coding, graphic design, investing, or something completely different.

Perhaps tell us a bit more about who you are and where you'd like to go? Where are you in the process? What's your largest hurdle?

Then, we can help you figure out what skill you need.
