Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss. :smxF:

Now that I am done reading that to my 2 yr old I will see if I can finish The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey.

Then I will move on to marketing books. Any suggestions on good marketing books let me know. Thanks :groove:

Animal Farm - George Orwell - Next read. Should be fun and easy.
Though it's a critique of Stalin's form of communism, it might be worth noting that Orwell was a committed socialist who stood up for his ideals whilst fighting against the American-backed General Franco in the Spanish Civil War. Now you've read that, as something slightly different, you might like to read his Down and Out in Paris and London or The Road to Wigan Pier.

A man with real ideals, unlike many of the hucksters on here.

EDIT: Yeah, don't take me seriously. It was stupid of me to insult folk for the sake of it, but I have a definite tendency to be judgemental that I need to control. Just treat me as the idiot in the corner who mutters to himself every now and again (which is what I am)! (Of course, you're right about poor people generally being angrier than the rich though.)

A man with real ideals, unlike many of the hucksters on here.

And you were doing so good with your earlier post. But here you attempt to disparage some unnamed member(s).

Most people are unwilling to open their arms to someone who throws out random negative comments without direction.

You are going to have a hard time being accepted into a community of entrepreneurs and investors when you are continually making comments like these.

Poor people always seem angrier than rich people...but perhaps that's just my perspective.

Best regards.

Marketing to Women - Martha Barletta

Pretty good insight into A) the market share that women hold in today's world and B) how to actually get their dollar. Randomly ran across this one at a bookstore and decided it could possibly be one of the best for my business since its a tutoring business and I hardly ever talk to the fathers of the children.

Thanks to my lovely GF for a Valentines day present, I just started reading a new book on Facebook entitled, "The Facebook Effect; The inside story of the company that is connecting the world" by David Kirkpatrick. New York Times bestseller and although I have only flipped through it and am a couple chapters in, I can see why it is so popular. Absolutely fantastic read thus far if any of you "The Social Network" movie fans want to read the rest of the story! (I absolutely loved the movie and am finding the further details of the journey to create Facebook incredibly fascinating).

If youre looking for a new book after you finish MJ's, check it out! :)

Finished "Everyday Survival: Why smart people do stupid things". It was ok. First half was way better then the second half. To be honest I didn't finish the last 1/4 because it just started repeating itself and had a lot of filler. I hope I don't do that as an author or coach... haha.

On to the Paleodiet. Interesting read so far. Anyone looking for healthy eating should check it out.

I'm about three chapters into "Influence" by Robert Caldini and in a word, it's awesome. Highly recommended if you currently sell to people, ever want to sell to people or have ever bought some thing and want to see how you were subtly coaxed into the purchase.

Get it in the kindle store for 50% less than the hard edition.

Crazy story I just read in this book (a few chapters in)...

Mark Zuckerberg was known in his college dorm as "the guy who always wrote cool software", ie, the guy who wrote programs that people loved to use. Two of the most popular ones he wrote while at Harvard (and before Facebook) were "Facemash" (seen in the movie), and "Coursematch" (a program that let students pick their classes based on what courses their friends were enrolling in. It was a huge hit).

He had a few programmer friends that assisted him in several of these projects. His roommates, as well as a neighbor of his in his Kirkland house dormitory (last name was Green). After being called in front of the administrative board for running a website that triggered so much traffic it actually crashed Harvard's entire network (Facemash), Mark and 2 of his friends (one of them being Green) were reprimanded and each given a slap on the wrist.

Well, it just so happened that Green (Marks neighbor in Kirkland), just happened to have his parents visiting for the weekend the day him and Mark were called in front of the administrative board. When Mark got back to the dorm, he bought a bottle of Champagne to celebrate his little "success" of, "beating the administration". Green's Father was NOT happy about this, and warned both his son and Mark that they were lucky they werent kicked out of school for a stunt like that. He deemed Mark a troublemaker, and told his son that he "forbid him from getting involved with any more of Mark Zuckerberg's projects". A few weeks later, Mark approached this kid and asked him to invest $1000 into a project that him and his friend Edwuardo Saverin were starting, as he thought it could end up being "the next big thing". The kid refused and politely passed on Mark's offer for involvement, insisting that his Dad "would be too pissed".

Can anyone guess what that next "Mark Zuckerberg project" was.... :smug2:

Nowadays, whenever Green is interviewed as being "a friend of Mark Zuckerberg from his Harvard days", he calls this his "Billion Dollar mistake". :nonod:

Can you even imagine?!?!?!
