If I've learned something in my years of trying to kick my porn addiction(unsuccessfully), it's that deprivation never works, your addiction is compensating for something else you need but aren't getting.
That's so true. Right now I'm so focused on my business I almost suppressed the need.

My roommates dog hated the 10X rule (He destroyed it).

Me personally though, I like Grant Cardone’s.

Watch a video and listen to that guy, take a look at his energy level. It’s off the charts.

I read this book and watched his videos because I wanted that energy to rub off on me. I wanted that energy he has.

After reading this thread, I went back and re-listened to the audio book. I'd forgotten how motivating it was and it's definitely made me up my game over the last couple of days.

Something that's been said a couple of times on this thread is that he says to just 10x whatever you're doing without measuring if it's succeeding. I kept listening out for examples of this and he doesn't give this advice. A number of times he says to put massive amounts of effort in, but if it's not working, change approaches and do something new.

First off, let me say that I'm not reading the book, I'm listening to it via Audible; and I have to say, I like his speaking tone.

I like Grant Cardone's seriousness, and lack of frivolity when speaking. He attacks this issue - failure, poverty, success - with the seriousness it deserves.

This book made me reflect, reflect on the source of my frustrations.

It made me think about my own goals, and personal achievements.

The reason, I can attest, for being so frustrated after every failure, was because I had underestimated how much time and effort I would need to accomplish these goals.

I was getting mediocre results, because I was putting in mediocre effort.

My goals and dreams don't need to be fixed, changed, or altered; my effort does.

Grant Cardone says in the 10X Rule that one of the biggest mistakes he see's managers make is setting the bar lower for their employees, when they should be doubling, tripling, and '10X'-ing their efforts instead.

I would quit after every failure, frustrated as to why, why I couldn't make this work.

I understand now, that this was part of the process. That I was underestimating how much time, effort, and resources I would need to achieve my dreams.

So instead of quitting, instead of giving up, instead of lowering your expectations, it's time to 10X your efforts, and double down when the going gets tough.

The book is a powerful source for insightful information. I thought it was a great read. I can also relate to what you were saying and how you affected you. It also made me realize I had to make bigger efforts in order to reach my dreams. As soon as I read it I 10x all my written goals. No excuses just execution. Best of luck

Wow, I feel like a ton of you guys are completely missing the point of his book.

He is insanely successful, works his a$$ off. The man gets up before dawn every day and gets some good exercise and then kid time in before most people are even out of bed. Meanwhile FLF is full of people shitting on his work on the internet... is it really a wonder why we are where we are at and he is where he is at?

Watching porn lowers your testosterone level and is also a "buffering" behavior that is hurting you with the ladies. Low T = bad thing. See the rational male here The Best of Rational Male – Year One

The man is worth a half of a billion dollars... You are claiming he is wrong... Misguided how? How do you know?
He's most certainly an ALPHA male. I like that about Grant.

I'm not saying he is wrong, I'm saying that I think you need a little traction before setting 10X goals in my experience. But I'm not too big on goal setting anyway.

The 10X Rule book, like the majority of Grant's material, is overly simplistic. But like I said, that's part of how Grant has positioned himself for mass appeal. The book wouldn't sell otherwise.

My family knows him and his family well. I like Grant a lot. I just take the book for what it is.

100% I've been following Cardone for a long time, everyone I know that takes his teachings seriously, have drastically changed their life for the better.

It won't be easy to apply these changes in your life, but doing as much as you can and more will give you the most amount of Feedback Bubble Gums - Causing you to adapt and improve.

I have followed GC for a long time, since we both came from the auto industry. He was a very well known sales trainer at dealerships for many years before branching out.

I think the 10X concept is not advisable when you are first starting out, as it can lead to unrealistic expectations of what you can handle, and can cause you to burn out. Not because you are putting in too much effort, but because you don't have your bearings yet and will most likely be putting effort into the wrong things.

Once you are a little further along, and have an idea of what activities are and are not valuable, you can put 10X more effort into the valuable activities, and 10X less effort into the activities that only take up time and don't produce results.

Just working "10X harder" at everything is a recipe for a mental health disaster. Trust me, I learned the hard way.

Good concept, but lacks the perspective needed to make it useful.

I recently read this - I don't normally sit there reading motivational books but for me I came from a different perspective. I have addressed this in other posts on the forum but I really do feel like I've done everything I can and failed. I found his quantification method quite interesting e.g. instead of making 6/7 calls he realised he needed to make 30 calls; CEOs attend 6 conferences and read 50+ books per year etc. So giving an example: I am working on two projects - I'll update that on my execution thread on Wednesday progress has slowed. But on personal front: I have a good life - through sheer effort alone I have got to where I am (in the words of Einstein I am grateful for those who said no; because of them, I did it myself). However, I recently tried different things (in addition to looking good, making best of myself, being in shape etc.): cooking class, clay pigeon shooting, tennis league, sales training (this was both personal and professional: a friend of mine met her husband at a conference) and then I looked at how many people were at the these events. Including the conference (which was male dominated) I must have ''met'' about 100 men in 2 weeks! Nothing!!!

So in summary I'm probably not one of the author's target audience in that I'm willing to do whatever it takes but I find the lack of results just utterly disheartening particularly as I know I'm one of a smaller number of females on this forum and the time-sensitivity of my personal goals is ringing in my ears daily but I have no idea what 10x I'm supposed to do to make it happen that I haven't done already; my biggest regret is not paying attention to this area in my life when I was younger and assuming things would fall into place.:(

Try reading "The ONE Thing" and figure out what your one thing is and focus on that. Your one thing is what makes every thing else around you easier or unnecessary. Has a lot to do with the 80/20 rule. Then, 10X the goals of that one thing. Then, reverse engineer what activities you need to perform to obtain the 10X goal.

For example, let's say 80% of your sales come from advertising on Facebook. If I need 50 clicks to my website to make a sale and 10 impressions to get a click, then I need 500 impressions to make a sale. If 500 impressions cost me $50, then I need to spend $50 to get one sale. If I want 100 sales then I need to spend $5,000 on ads to get impressions and clicks. Your one thing to focus on is spending money on the ads and making that one thing work best. Then you scale it by a multiple of 10 every time you want growth.

Make sure the goals and activities to reach your goals are scalable. For example, making cold calls is not scalable because you're trading your time for that activity. So, it's not a good thing to try to 10X. Unless you decided to hire other people to make those calls for you. Then, hiring talent is your focus.

So, I think using the CENTS framework to find out your ONE thing and 10Xing that ONE thing is one way to look at solving problems in business.

I've read it several times and still read the book about twice per year (along with my other faves like TMF , Unscripted , The ONE Thing, etc.).

I think reading it only once you miss out on some great nuggets. Here are some.

You 10X your goals and then work backwards to find out what activities are need to achieve those goals. Then, focus on and take massive action in those activities.

Let me elaborate on this idea of figuring out your "activities." You cannot 10X your own time and energy. So, if you're thinking "well I work 10 hours per day now then I can't work 100 hours in a day" then you thinking about it the wrong way and need to re-read TMF . Your activities have to be within the CENTS framework. Also, you might realize from the start of doing some new venture that you cannot possibly 10X your goals. This might lead to your realization that the new venture might not be worth the effort.

So, just so we are all clear, you cannot 10X your work effort, individual time, personal exercise, etc. So, 10X fitness goals don't apply here. Those are not scalable. Those are process-oriented endeavors.

There is no shortage of success. You can always make more money.

Assume control of everything. (CENTS)

You cannot afford to act like a victim.
Gives great examples of this behavior. How to identify it and how to avoid it.

Four degrees of Action: do nothing, retreat, average action, and massive action
(one of my favorite chapters; don't focus on the massive action part as much as focusing on the traps of falling into the other three actions and how to avoid them)

Don't compete. Dominate. (don't compare yourself to your competition or won't be able to overtake them; instead model your business after someone with massive success and do what they did)

FEAR: "Rather than seeing fear as a sign to run away, it must be your indicator to go forward."

Time Management: There is no "balance", only priorities. Be wary to time-sucking people and activities. Don't watch TV, make TV shows.

Criticism is a sign of success. (jealousy) Embrace the haters. No one criticizes people with mediocre success. "Weak and overwhelmed individuals respond to others' success by attacking it."

Commit first, figure the rest out later.

Be uncomfortable.

You might have heard these concepts somewhere else but I guarantee you have never heard them delivered with the same passion and energy that GC has when reading his audiobooks.
