We hear so many stories of these apps being bought for millions and millions of dollars.

Will this eventually end? It's ridiculously amazing how much Facebook paid for this.

They spend $0 on customer acquisition and acquire 1 mil new customers per day. They have 450 mil active users with massive engagement. The service is free for a year, then $1/ year after that. This is why FB wanted them!

Just think too-If he'd been picked up by Facebook or Twitter, he might make $250,000/yr as a software engineer, and go thorough life happy because he had a great job.

It'd take 27,000 years at that salary to equal just his take home portion of this deal.

I read somewhere that Whatsapp could evolve to a Facebook competitor because of the userbase, status updates etc.
That could justify the price a little.
