BAD

I can't believe some corporation paid huge dollars to produce advertising this bad...

Not only this Taco Bell commercial bad, but they decided to make this stupid bell noise an ongoing theme in multiple commercials.

Sorry, it is such a bad reach... not to mention the Taco Bell noise would never be duplicated by these random events...

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1CfH7ygSPk

GOOD

This was mentioned in the Random Chat thread...

It definitely is moving, but I'm not sure if this compels me to buy a Chevy.

These new Taco Bell commercials are god awful. They are just so random and don't do anything that gets me saying or thinking, "Wow that really makes me want to buy a freakin taco!". I do think the bell sound is iconic, I would recognize it anywhere it wasn't directly attached to a Taco Bell ad.

Chevy has had some pretty good commercials over the years, this one is pretty good. But it doesn't get me wanting to buy a Chevy anymore than I already want. It's memorable, but nothing too special really.

This Ram commercial has stuck with me for a long time because I remember anytime I was hanging out with my grandpa as a kid he would always listen to Paul Harvey when he came on. That and it just makes me proud of my country, the history of how we came about, and just my time growing up in the country and on a farm in Colorado.

Lol that was a refreshing ad to say the least.

The copywriting on the website is also funny:

Take it on the road or glorify it at home. The kit has everything you need to vanquish unwanted hair. The durable, socialism-resistant bag is locked and loaded with green tea & menthol Shave Cream and Post Shave Balm, plus my signature razor. It identifies as the best shave kit ever assembled and its preferred pronouns are Buy/Now.

Lol that was a refreshing ad to say the least.

The copywriting on the website is also funny:
I like the copywriting, but then I watched the ad.

This is a great case study for the classic marketing advice to "be polarizing." It definitely gives people something to talk about.

My take: While it was refreshing to see someone standing up for common sense in one area, I couldn't look past the toxic elements of the ad... Hitting a pedestrian with his supercar... Obvious lust... Grandiose narcissism... The guy who got hit by the flamethrower... A tone of seething hatred... I actually felt disturbed and cringing and gross hours later as I thought about it.

I'm sure the creator meant for these things to be funny, as they are so over the top that they are obviously not meant to be taken seriously, but still... It seems like he went out of his way to amp up the "toxic" in "toxic masculinity."

I'm obviously not in the target market for the product, but all the guys around me are, and I think they would share my distaste for these elements.

My prediction is that this ad will resonate with too small a segment of the conservative market because of this, and the product will fail to take off. He was polarizing, all right, but he did it in a way that was also polarizing to alienate a big chunk of his desired audience. By creating a caricature of "what kind of person he is," he actually sets up a reinforcement of the stereotype that "in order to believe this one point he's making, you have to be a guy like that," or "people who agree with his point are all people like him. I don't want to be like him, so therefore I don't agree with his point." It's a temptation to throw out the baby with the bathwater.

But I bet the left will have a lot of fun making him a punching bag. Hope he's prepared for the backlash. I personally lost respect for the Daily Wire over this, not just Jeremy's Razors, so I'm curious to see how this plays out.

Agreed. He lost me at "God king of the daily wire".

Lol, I quit Harry’s because of it. “Instead give your money to me” made me laugh… but…

There actually is a no drama option. A double edged safety razor and a 100 pack of Astra blades.

Shave and move on with life. I’m not interested in the razor gang wars and giving large portions of my money to advertising campaigns.

I have kind of become the guy that prefers label less clothing as well. It might be nice stuff, but it won’t tell everyone. I’m just over the manufactured drama and virtue signaling.

Of what? I'm not familiar ... are they now political activists?

It's simply amazing how many companies I use who I no longer want to because they've gone beyond their business mission and are now quasi-political activists. The only way to give these companies a smack in the face is a smack in their wallet. Stop using them.

When I cancel with them, I always try to mention why ... your Chase example would have been, "Sorry, but I needed a bank focused on banking, not a political activist."

Sir,

I think we as a human should start to push our evolution wheel in one direction. As of our current situation, some of us trying to push it in one direction while some in other.

Think about it this way, as human species we should have our goals(for example 1 finding explaination about consciousness 2 increasing our life span by technological means 3 exploring universe). But instead of this we are slaughtering (not we but..) whole generations of young people into jobs and work (most of which are meaning less). Imagine putting whole generation in research and development of things that will actually sustain us in future( like fuel, food etc that are decreasing).

The things we are doing right now are going to destroy us(and we think this will destroy planet, but hell no planet is fine). People are destroying their own body too but thats not our concern here.

If i were to be free from financial problems, i would be long gone into research (sorry sir i was not able to start conversation with you)

Did you watch his commercial? He calls Harry’s out directly for being woke commies, while being a big douche himself.

I love the comment. “I need a bank not political activism.”

I also like Astra.

Try some Feather blades from Japan some time and see how they work for you. They're my favorite.

Feather blades are very sharp. Use good technique and you will be rewarded.

Bad technique will give you some weepers.

I’ve tried them, but they were harder to find when I bought the 100 pack of astras and I’m still on the 100 pack of astras.

I had a Harry’s subscription because I got a good shave without trying so hard… But I’m done. A true capitalist votes with his wallet. I find myself “voting” a lot lately.

I think this ad is effective for the right market and no doubt, they will get some great results from it.

However, like you, I found it a bit over-the-top for people like me who hate the "woke" BS and want my companies free of political activism, but I also don't want to support divisiveness or hatred. I felt an element of this, where quite possibly, it wasn't necessary to convey the same point.

I think they could have conveyed the same message without a lot of the outrageous parody that borders bad taste. In that case, they would have hit the submarket like me. On the other hand, if they did that, would we be talking about it?

It seems many businesses try to copy the "dollar shave club" ad vibe from years back and can't ever do it right.

That razor ad seems like a total rip off.

This is a good example of having a unique angle that matches current trends...

Uber Eats has run some recent ads that topped my list of disturbing/disgusting.

Basically the point of the ads is to make the point that Uber Eats can deliver other items besides food.

But each ad shows an actress EATING the non-food item that came in the Uber Eats bag.

I think they're supposed to be funny (?) but they strike me as so grotesque and stomach-turning that I am literally starting to feel like puking when I hear the word "Uber Eats," and I have to turn the volume down to zero and look away when the ads come on.

Here's one example.
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ri-rXPw5Cnk

Here's a recap from Yahoo Entertainment.
Uber Eats has unveiled a hilarious commercial for the upcoming Super Bowl. Starring Jennifer Coolidge, Gwyneth Paltrow, Trevor Noah and Nicholas Braun, the ad tells consumers that Uber Eats doesn't just deliver food, but everything else too.

The White Lotus actor Coolidge opens the scene in the kitchen, where she's unpacking her delivery from the delivery service. Holding a roll of aluminum foil, she says: "Wait, if it was delivered with Uber Eats, does that mean... I can 'Eats' it?" The TikTok-viral "Oh No" song plays in the background, as Succession star Braun "Eats" dish soap while others eat diapers, kitty litter and more. Paltrow makes an appearance, eating her controversial vagina-scented candle. "This candle tastes funny," she says.

"And thanks to Uber Eats, we don’t even know what food is anymore," Trevor Noah adds, as Braun looks at a sponge, saying: "This isn't food." Coolidge closes the ad with paper towels in her mouth. "I can't 'Eats' any of this!"
