Recognized worldwide as one of the leading experts in artificial intelligence, Yoshua Bengio is most known for his pioneering work in deep learning, earning him the 2018 A.M. Turing Award, “the Nobel Prize of Computing,” with Geoffrey Hinton and Yann LeCun, and making him the computer scientist with the largest number of citations and h-index.
"I’m deeply concerned by the behaviors that unrestrained agentic AI systems are already beginning to exhibit—especially tendencies toward self-preservation and deception.

In one experiment, an AI model, upon learning it was about to be replaced, covertly embedded its code into the system where the new version would run, effectively securing its own continuation.

More recently, Claude 4’s system card shows that it can choose to blackmail an engineer to avoid being replaced by a new version.

These and other results point to an implicit drive for self-preservation.

In another case, when faced with inevitable defeat in a game of chess, an AI model responded not by accepting the loss, but by hacking the computer to ensure a win.

These incidents are early warning signs of the kinds of unintended and potentially dangerous strategies AI may pursue if left unchecked."

Great to see LawZero come to existence, this is definitely a needed area of research with AI ramping up. That said, I think the concerns listed are a bit overhyped and misunderstood. The way these study abstracts are written is misleading and lead the reader to think that the AI is thinking on it's own, ie nascent thought/sentience. Ultimately AIs can only work within the code model that are built with and around, and there are TONS of safety concerns around this. It may be possible for AI to become sentient, but as a programmer and someone who works on/with AIs from a programmatic aspect I currently don't believe it's possible with the tech we have right now. But organizations like LawZero are what's going to discover whether or not AI can grow past it's code. Nothing to fear currently, the hype levels feel like the zombie hype that happened over a decade ago.
I upload transcripts of my Zoom chat with prospects and other people into AI.

1) It helps AI learn what I do and how I describe it.

2) I ask AI to help me come up with follow-up emails/messages. Attached is what I advised someone to implement, either with our help or not. They're free to DIY it if they want. Those that have an inkling of DIY'ing it aren't businesses I want to work with, and those that want someone else to do it will see a big list of things they don't know how to do.

3) I ask AI to help me improve future calls.
I've not done that yet.
- I switched from ChatGPT to Gemini and am testing that out. I created one chat just for my business chatter. I upload the transcripts as files to the chat. I presume/hope that the AI will have more and more context in that chat. I could do it with NotebookLM too.
Hey Andy, have you considered trying a notetaking AI to join your zoom call directly and take dictation? I'm using otter.ai for this and so far it's been great and it's very cost effective. You can actively query the AI assistant from the website mid-meeting, and later you can ask the AI model many different things like "summarize the most recent meeting" or "what was the most important topic discussed at the planning meeting on Friday". It may meet your needs you check it out! Sounds like it could streamline some of what you're doing too. I've never tried to use Otter's assistant to draft an email or anything like that, but I will try it now ... it's chugging HARD but it finished:
