Anyone have Starlink resideitial service? Thoughts?

I have 3 different fiber providers in my area so I don't actually need it, but Starlink is still appealing for a number of other reasons.

I am aware that fiber is faster. I am of the opinion that once you're over 100 mbps, it doesn't matter. Any more bandwidth is like towing a jet ski with an F350 instead of a ford explorer that can also easily pull it.

Funny enough I just ordered the Starlink Roam mini yesterday. It just got shipped and will arrive Sunday. I ended up going this route rather the the Roam standard and residential for 2 reasons.

1. This will mainly be used when traveling. My wife needed a secure internet connection and her work laptop wont connect to any type of captive unsecure network. Although she can connect to our phones hotspot, it wasn't cutting it for video team meeting streaming.

2. A home backup internet. In my research, I realized that you can change out the plans and prepay for that month to either pause or do a $10/$50/$165 plan and then switch again depending on needs. The $165 being unlimited.

Now you maybe asking how would it as a home backup if you have no power? The mini roam doesn't need much power and I went down this whole rabbit hole of battery backups. The mini can be powered through the 12v cigarette lighter as well as various 100w power banks. As my stater travel battery pack I ordered this, Jackery Explorer 100 Plus with 1xSolarSaga 40W mini, 99Wh LiFePO4 Battery Power Bank along with one of those cigarette lighter plugs for the road. Since I don't have a house generator yet, this solar panel setup would work in a pinch.

I probably wouldn't swap out a home fiber connection for the Starlink though. But use it more of a home backup and travel/camping.
