One Or Multiple Product Type?

hello, as I’m working out my master plan for my niche canvas art Shopify Store...I ran into a problem...

Do I sell one type of product ? (just canvas art)

Or do i sell other type of products my audience would like as well ? (IE statues, and other home decor)

example of a one product type store is ikonick - just sells canvas art & it’s an 8 figure company

example of a multiple product type store is black rifle coffee - main product is coffee but they sell apparel , mugs, etc

What would you choose? And why? And why wouldn’t you choose the other type?

thank you for your input in advance

''sell'' what is that? Why do you need to sell? We don't sell, we provide value and people beat a path to our door to give us money.

Don't ask us, engage with your market place and give them what they want, don't ''sell'' them stuff.

anytime you exchange a good for money, you’re selling

so yes my Shopify Store will be selling paintings (exchanging paintings for money)

my question is...is it better to focus on just one product type and be known for just that or have many complimentary Products my audience would enjoy

what are the pros and cons of going with one strategy over the other

Why not ''sell'' them all?

Bear in mind, that is not a reason to start selling merchandise or something along those lines.

I’d sell one Type (just canvas art)
But I suggest adding variations. For instance, different sizes of each painting. So if someone likes your art but can’t afford your normal size, you can still get a sale by adding a smaller, more affordable size

Id advise against selling other stuff initially. See how well your canvas’ do. If you see success, then you can gauge people’s interests in complimentary products by adding them to the site. If they don’t sell, it’ll be no biggie because you’ll have an established reputation as an art site
Try to avoid the “one stop shop” mindset. It doesn’t work well for e-commerce. You’re on the right path by thinking about targeting a niche

yes that’s exactly what I’m debating

just curious...why do you say being a one stop shop doesn’t work?

It takes focus away from the main attraction and conveys that you don’t specialize in anything

This.
You gotta give value first - get credible, get known for something then people might look for other supplementary things you'd offer.
