After designing a landing page and having people visit your site via ppc how do you guys begin the process of changing the site to get more conversions (if its not doing well)? How do you even know what to change about it? I'm sitting here wondering why people don't want to do business with me, but I don't want to just guess.

Is there software out there that will provide insight as to why they're leaving? Are there other, better ways to figure out what my potential customers want?

I know of heat maps and surveys when they go to leave, but thats about it unfortunately.

I've been split testing and have tried 5 different designs. Same result with each one... no sales whatsoever.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

How many impressions are you sending to your LPs? A problem I was having was not sending enough people to compare properly.

100-300 clicks is a decent sample I'd say. But then again I do CPM, not PPC.

Maybe It's a good idea if you post the link to your landing page, Alot of online goliaths here that could give you some golden feedback.

And here is a quick guide for Landing pages:

Would apprecuate any feedback you guys may have:

If it's sales your going for... always always always have a Call to Action above the fold (before scrolling down).

If you put it below the fold, your click through rate drops dramatically.
Have one before, then have one later like this one:

http://garciniacambogia.globalhealthandbeauty.com/garcinia-cambogia-lander-wy.html

Also, I'd tighten up the space, do a split-test, with maybe 2 columns. First column clarifies the benefits (not features) of the product, the 2nd column as a Call to Action.

Another tip: Only 1 link should be on a landing page. TO BUY. That's it.
And it should be super clear to them what they are buying and how to do so.

For opt-ins:

You don't need a large amount of info. Very little info is enough, email is a small commitment.
Shouldn't even have a scroll. Keep it all above the fold.

Hope that helps @Tengen buddy

One more thing: people read left to right..so first column on the left should explain why they should buy now. And on the right should be the Call to Action.

Thanks for the great info Silverhawk. Think I can implement a lot of the info on this thread to my landing page. You definitely know your stuff. If I PM you, could you possibly give me some quick advice on my landing page?

You can install software that tracks where vistors are scrolling/moving their mouse on your page. It's called Crazy Egg.

Do you think people aren't buying

... because your landing page "doesn't convert"?

... because your offer isn't good enough?

... or because people aren't hungry enough for what you are selling?

Landing pages don't convert.

PEOPLE convert

... from browsers into researchers.

... from researchers into shoppers.

... from shoppers into leads.

... from leads into buyers.

... from buyers into repeat buyers (aka customers)

... from customers into referrers

Sales happen when the right people hit the right offer at the right time.

Guaranteed it is less an offer issue, or a copy issue, or a landing page issue.

I bet it's a targeting issue.

The crowd isn't starving.
